Quality Initiatives and Tools 2 The Healthcare Quality Improvement Act and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement both lead to performance improvement for healthcare organizations. The professional scope on how to improve quality by providing protection can further facilitate a large healthcare organization to operate smoothly and efficiently. The number of medical malpractice lawsuits that multiply is astonishing, which most of these cases have played a factor in the Healthcare Quality Improvement Act (HCQIA). This Act provides protection from liability under Feteral and State laws for members within an organization. By enhancing effectiveness, efficiency and safety; the quality of care will come into play naturally. Rellying on an organized workflow and flawless systems can be helpful to identify problems and analyze concerns within the company. An example of this would be searching for death or serious injury related to a procedure. Then using process tools such as multi-voting to reduce the amount of injured or death outcomes. Diving into the tremendous wealth of information on the Institute for Healthcare Improvement providing skill enhancement through education and training programs. Speakers with knowledge, tools and techniques transforming ways to improve quality is what the Institute for Healthcare Improvement strives for. Touching base on important questions like “wh at are you trying to accomplish? How will we know that change is an improvement? What change can we make that will result in improvement?” (ihi.0rg) . Focusing on a cycle to test and adapt to changes ensuring the desired improvement, Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA). This provides straightforward approach enhancing outcomes. The multi-voting tool is used when a team of people agree on the importance of an issue. First, by gathering information and sharing ideas with the group, then start going through the list to veto some ideas outside the scope of the focus. Then we decide how many votes each person
