Distinguish between primary and secondary sources.
A primary source is a firsthand account of an event that happened, data from a study, or an original work. Secondary sources are a step removed from primary sources. Essentially, they’re sources about primary sources.
Explain why it is important to consult a variety of sources when conducting historical research. Include specific details and examples.
[It is important to consult a variety of different sources when doing historical research because when we write a research paper, we are creating a secondary source based on our own analysis of primary source material that we research. Primary sources are valuable to historians because they give insight into the ways in which historical figures understood and internalized what they experienced and sacrificed which plays a major role in history today and give historians an understanding of historical figures’ opinions and events. Using various sources such as primary helps others relate in a personal way to events of the past and promote a deeper understanding
of history.
