Is It The Guns Fault? Is gun control a bad or good thing? Would taking away guns prevent or increase criminal behavior? The debate on gun control started after several massacres in the United States. There became an extremely opposed opinion between having guns and not having guns. People became to blame the gun not the person using the gun. This way of thinking created fear against guns. Due to the people fearing guns the legislature proceeded with caution to allow people the right to bear arms. In the United States laws are being made to keep America safe from harmful people. If not careful guns can become harmful causing deaths, massacres, yet there are laws to prevent criminals to obtaining a gun there are always loopholes. Many people want gun control laws due to fear of guns. Robert A. Heinlein states "There are no dangerous weapons. There are only dangerous men." Due to this fear the citizens wanted more restrictions on guns. In the United States, gun control laws are different in every state. For many states, private sellers do not require background checks or mental illnesses. The legislation has started to create gun control laws to prevent massacres, homicide, suicide, or other criminal activities. The …show more content…

Gun control is a very controversial topic that has has a huge impact on the United States of America. One side believes that if guns were taken away as a whole, the country would see significantly less gun related crimes and death, while the other opposing side thinks that taking away guns is not only against the Second Amendment but would lead to an increase in crime and death because the government would take guns away from people who are legally registered to own and conceal guns. The ongoing debate will continue until the foreseeable future but their are plenty of reasons why more gun laws should be made. Taking away guns is not the answer, learning how to deal with gun violence is the key.
Gun control laws would reduce gun deaths, but gun control laws do not determine crime gun owners determines crime. On the Pro side there were four hundred and sixty-four thousand thirty-three total gun deaths between 1999 to 2013. If we enforced the gun law more then it can drop the death rate with guns down since deaths with guns is the 12th leading cause of deaths. Children at the age of 15 or younger were more likely die from a gun accident then children in wealthy countries. If we did background checks on people when they buy ammunition purchases the deaths could reduce by eighty percent. As the saying goes “guns don’t kill people, people with guns kill people”. In 1980 to 2009 assault weapons bans have not affected murder rates at the state level. If people could just not get so mad and want to kill somebody for no reason, then we would not have to deal with this problem all the time. States with the largest increases in gun owners have the largest drops in violent crimes. Eighty four percent shooting victims have declined when the state passed the laws. When people have weapons on them it makes it much easier for a criminal to hurt them because it makes the criminals job much easier to harm you or threat you if the criminal sneaks up on you and gets your weapon then you are screwed then. I think that it kind of be both because if we have the law enforced then less people will die but on the other end what is the law going to do to people who will go against the law.
Gun control is a very complicated topic, there are two sides to the issue and many ongoing arguments between both sides. With the recent outbreak of school shootings this topic has only gotten touchier. Some people even believe the 2nd amendment should be repealed. This topic is commonly avoided but it must be discussed, between school shootings and terrorist attacks everyone is at risk. Gun control is a topic that affects everybody regardless of age, gender, or race.
Gun Control are laws that are put in place to regulate and promote gun safety. Isn't that just plain common sense? "But we are the only advanced country on Earth that sees this kind of mass violence erupt with this kind of frequency."(Obama) Gun Violence is a problem that sadly has been embedded into our culture. But why? Guns have been part of culture since our arrival to the New World. Guns played a huge part in search for our independence as the Revolutionary war started with the first shots fired in Boston, MA. But, as time progressed guns began to do more harm than good. Gun violence is increasing as 89 people are victims of gun violence every day. But as soon as the horrible phantom is happening, groups such as the National Rifle Association
There are a lot of different opinions on gun control. Some people think we should have gun control and strongly support it. I for one am not one of those people. I strongly believe that gun control would not work. Guns are not weapons they are tools used to protect your self, it is not the fault of a good samaritan that an unlawful samaritan uses them in the wrong ways. Guns are not the problem it is the people that get a hold of them. A gun can not fire a bullet its self just like a car can not drive its self.
We as a country have been caught up lately in the idea that we need to take away people's guns in order to make people safer. Adolf Hitler once said, “To conquer a nation, first disarm its citizens (Quotes About).” Do I really need to explain where history seems to be repeating here. What people do not seem to understand is that by trying to control guns, you are just making it easier for those who would mean to do harm to get away with it. This is especially true in states with really strict gun laws.

When there is a bombing, we blame the bomber. When there is a drunk driving accident we blame the drunk driver. Why when there is a shooting, do we blame the gun? A gun has never in fact killed a person, not even an animal. Guns are incapable of killing anything; they are inanimate objects used as tools to protect, hunt, and collect, amongst many other things. Should the fact that felons have committed crimes with the use of guns result in the removal of the constitutional right of law abiding citizens to possess guns? Just the idea of gun control is downright against the principle of democracy that allows people to protect their lives and the lives of others. It also goes against the Second Amendment. Do you think the criminals killing with these guns will suddenly decide to obey new gun control laws? Imagine that a criminal walks into an establishment with a gun, sees a sign that reads “gun free zone”, and leaves because it is the right thing to do. No, If anything the criminals want gun control. Think about it, the more people there are that do not own guns, the less chance criminals will get shot when using theirs. It is simple, stricter gun control is clearly
“Gun control is the set of laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, possession, modifications, and or use of firearms by civilians.” Why is it such a controversy to have guns or don’t have guns? What makes guns so bad? I think that the American citizens should have guns, but with responsibility.
Do we need gun control laws? Should everyone own a gun for self-defense? Gun control is a hot button issue, especially in the wake of so many recent, tragic mass shootings. It is also a polarizing issue, which means that it tends to divide people.People should have guns for self defense. I believe certain people shouldn't be able to have guns for these reasons why. The most common state gun control laws include background checks, waiting periods, and registration requirements to purchase or sell guns, Most states prevent carrying guns, including people with a concealed carry permit, on K-12 school grounds and many states prevent carrying on college campuses. Some states ban assault weapons.
Gun control does not stop criminals from obtaining guns; guns deter crime, but there should be some gun control such as universal background checks all federally licensed firearms dealer (FFL) can use. That is why there should be some gun control but not much. Guns are weapons and like any weapons, there are certain restrictions you must follow but, for the most part, any weapon/tool is allowed. What is so bad about that? Firstly, there is one major flaw with gun control and that is criminals can still buy a gun illegally and use it. So by creating gun laws it will not help, only hinder, the American citizen about the way to buy guns. To criminals, breaking the law is not a big deal; that is why criminals have the name. “To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to
In a Kansas survey conducted immediately after the Columbine school shootings, Haider-Markel and Joslyn in 2001 found that even following a prologue explicitly blaming the shootings on “weak gun control laws,” when respondents were asked “who or what...is most to blame” for the murders, only one in six attributed the murders to weak gun control (p. 532). Even these people that were surveyed believe/ blame the shooting because of the weak gun control laws. I believe that with fewer guns it can help reduce crimes, and homicides. Yes, guns can be good to help you keep safe but they shouldn’t get into the wrong hands of those people who aren’t mentally good. This is a long going debating issue weather guns are good to help keep society safe or is it going to cause harm. Those who have confidence that the police can shield them from lawbreakers support or believe in firearm control; controversies, those who think that they cannot depend on the police put their confidence in the firearms, and restrict the more grounded types of firearms that may incapacitate

Firearms violence has received a lot of attention from researchers. The increase in rates of firearms violence in the late 1980s and early 1990s promoted considerable discussion as the nature causes and control of firearms violence in the United States ( Fox & Zawitz 2007). In the American culture , guns have always been the most important part. History studies that firearms have been carried since the both of America, whether we want to believe it or not time has changed tremendously. Through much of American history, gun control measures, like many other laws, were used to oppress African Americans (Winkler, 2011). After the American Civil War, the North allowed soldiers of any color to
The issue of gun control has created a lot of controversy in America today and for many years. Those who support gun control feel that guns are the reason for the uprising crime rate in our country. I disagree with the supporters of gun control. I feel that because of the black market, violent criminals being released from prison early, and personal safety, stricter gun control will have very little impact on violent crime in America. I believe that gun control works in theory, but not in real life. Sure, there are many violent crimes where guns are used, but most of these guns are obtained illegally, because the gun control laws enforced are not enough.
