Each year, members of our chapter at Pepperdine University select a new local philanthropy to help members make a difference in partnership with nonprofits close to their hearts. This year, chapter members chose to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and raised over $9,200 through their fundraising event, Kappa Kappa Gameday — a two-day competition that included a lip sync competition, a flag football tournament, and a representative from the foundation who spoke about the warning signs of suicide. Over the last year, individual Kappas donated more than $2.5 million to the Kappa Foundation. Kappas are always there to support one another, especially in the most difficult of times. That's why we created the Rose McGill …show more content…

The six Founders march into chapel with little golden keys in their hair. 1876 First convention is held in Greencastle, Indiana. 1881 First Grand President, Tade Hartsuff Kuhns, Butler, is elected to oversee a new Grand Council. This makes Kappa the first women’s fraternity to adopt a governing council structure. 1882 The Golden Key, now The Key, is the first women’s fraternity magazine to be published.
The binge drinking and partying of fraternities and sororities is now under the concern of the chapter locally and nationally. Every year there is a national hazing awareness week that every fraternity and sorority on every campus in America participates in. The only way to fix the problem is the educate people about the problem. To outweigh the heavy expense on a member’s pocket is the ability to apply for scholarships within a fraternity or sorority nationally. A Greek organization offers aid when needed and if cannot solely help look for other outlets for financial aid for a member. Organizations focus on education and give endless resources to members within the house and on campus. Members of Greek organizations have so much potential to become well-rounded individuals and being in these organizations helps them shape these potentials to achieve the most success as
Having philanthropy events has always been one of my favorite things about Greek life. Whether it is attending other sorority or fraternities’ events or being apart of our own. Delta Gamma holds two main events for Service for Sight each year. In the fall we have Anchor Slam which is a three on three basketball tournament where sororities and fraternities come out to compete against one another. In the spring we held Anchor Splash which is a synchronized swimming event with many different relay races. This year we had the Whited family come and speak on their behalf. They explained how Lochlan was diagnosed with CRB1 and how he will eventually loose his eyesight completely. This story touched a lot of students, faculty, and families that attended our philanthropy. We made Lochlan our featured anchor man and tried to raise as much money as possible for the family. This event was very successful and we raised over 1,800 dollars to give to the family.
The application fee is just a start of $75 along with getting books for each class that can range from $700 - $1,200 depending on if you’re accepted. Meanwhile, tuition and fees add up to over $9,830. The cost of attendance for in-state students is about $26,346. Lastly on campus living can add up to around $11,456 on average plus meals and parking, $4,310.

Q: What fee standards would an alumna initiate meet : Alumna initiates would be required to pay an initiation fee of $175 in addition to their annual alumna dues. Like our current members, alumna initiates will also be expected to support the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation when possible. Q: Should they be required to retroactively pay what collegiate members accrued during their active years?
Sororities and fraternities host many events throughout the school year. Many outsiders see this as a way for the members to collide and party but they often don’t acknowledge that many of these get togethers are in support of a charity or other philanthropy institution. This tradition is
Meet Kappa [headline] We know one another. We just haven’t met yet. [subheadline] Hello Lakers: The women of Kappa Kappa Gamma aspire to be. Increasingly, college women are attending school and funding their education by themselves. Working two to three jobs to afford tuition and books, the price of being a member of Kappa — although it is something many consider priceless — is a financial burden that some cannot afford. Every year, bright, caring and wonderful sisters drop out of school due to financial burdens.
In May 2016, Kappa Kappa Gamma, in conjunction with ClariVista Research, conducted a survey that was sent to all members for whom we had a valid email address. More than 107,000 Kappas received the questionnaire and we were thrilled to hear from more than 5,700 members.
In addition to the rotating two-hour program, we have a peer-led, 60-minute curriculum that can be facilitated by a chapter Education Chairman for an entire chapter as well as online Behind Happy Faces courses for advisers, alumnae and collegians who are interested in learning more. As part of our yearly chapter programming, Kappa offers members Not Anymore, an engaging online program facilitated by peers. Throughout the course, young women share their stories about difficult topics, including sexual assault, relationship and dating violence, consent and bystander intervention. We value opportunities to support women beyond individual chapters by collaborating with other organizations to bring awareness to important topics that have
Year One: Year one is critical to creating a chapter with long-term sustainability at Illinois State. During this time, we are building and developing the chapter by focusing on a strong sisterhood and its connection to the ISU campus and the Bloomington-Normal community. To do so, the New Chapter Support Team will work with the newly elected chapter officers to plan sisterhood events that promote unity and friendship. In addition to creating lasting bonds among members, the chapter will begin creating partnerships on campus and in the community. Kappa proposes the implementation of Panhellenic mentors. Panhellenic leaders would serve
