Identity What truly makes up someone’s identity? “The characteristics determining who or what a person or thing is.” This definition is outdated. A person’s characteristics are not the only thing that defines them. Events in someone’s life affect who they are as a person more than their characteristics do. Identity is how life experiences shape a person and how they view themselves. Starting dance has shaped my life and identity greatly. I first started dance when I was three years old. The sound of tap shoes and music was something I heard most nights of the week. On the weekends I would smell the hairspray my mom coated my hair in, so that it would not fall out on stage. As I got older, I started going to a new dance studio. This was a big change for me. I had to learn how my new teacher did things. I felt a little nervous and out of place at first. Now, the people at my studio feel like family. I am on the high school dance team now. That is a big part of my dance experience. I remember the times in elementary school when I would do the dance clinics that the dance team held. I looked up to them and could not wait until I was a part of the team. Tryouts for the team were nerve wracking. I remember walking on the stage, and seeing the judges and my future coach. I began to get even more nervous. My partner for tryouts was going to be a senior, which made me a little worried, because she was much more experienced then me. She helped me through it and made me feel better

Identity: an inanimate belief everyone longs for, a form of reassurance in a tangible world full insecurities and ambivalence. Identity is defined as the qualities, beliefs, personality, or expressions that characterize a person. While these characteristics describe us, we are unable to place them ourselves. These identities and characteristics, although they make us human, are the cause of the disillusion within ourselves. We live in a society where the outside world is encouraged to label us with identities based on how they perceive us.
There are millions of words across the globe that are used to describe people and uncover their identity, but what is identity? How can you begin to describe something that varies so greatly from one human being to another? Can you create a universal meaning for a word describing human concepts that people often fail to define for themselves? Of course there isn't one definition to define such a word. It is an intricate aspect of human nature, and it has a definition just as complex.
Identity is the all encompassing view of who you are as an individual and contain many different parts such as your goals, values and beliefs as well as your standards for behavior and decision-making (Schwartz, Luyckx, & Vignoles, 2011).

Identity is what I believe the thing that makes up all human beings. Everybody has an identity, some just aren't as brisk to comprehend what it is or what it means. Identity is generally what someone's traits make up and in my case, I believe I am benevolent, venturesome, and optimistic. Some of the qualities I consider myself to have are not what I would have considered myself to be last year. I believe life lessons that someone undergoes can change their identity and the way they come off drastically.
Your identity is who you are. If you don't know your identity, your life might supposed to be great because you are some super famous person's son/daughter but you are poor and homeless. Your identity is a great deal of who, what, and why you are here, not all of it, but most of it. Your identity is basicly you. Some people have a while of trying before they finally find their identity like April and Hercules in our stories we read before, they all had to struggle to find their identities.
Identity. The definition of identity is The fact of being who or what a person or thing is. Identity is who you are. Your fingerprint is different. Your DNA is different. Even your eyeball pattern is different than the guy next to you. Some things that i like to do that not all people might not like are to play football and basketball, do water sports like ski and wakeboard and go hunting and fishing. Three things that make me unique are that i'm an athlete, funny, and laid back.
When I immigrated to the US, I struggled with my identity, unsure of my place in my new home. This feeling was further intensified with sense of loneliness I experienced when I began community college. For a while, I tried my hardest to fit in but my accent and dress were an indication that I was not from here. In order to avoid the awkward bigoted questions and remarks that would make me feel that I did not belong here, I spoke less and shortened my interactions with others.
