School could be a pain, especially forcing yourself to wake up early in the morning just to go to school. We could at least wake up more later than early in the morning if we are going to school. Imagine if you could go to school later than usually. This plan actually help students. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is urging education policymakers to start middle- and high-school classes later in the morning. The idea is to improve the odds of adolescents getting sufficient sleep so they can thrive both physically and academically. The school day should start more later because student needs enough sleep, students could get excessive sleepiness in adolescents and Some people could disagree and they have really good reasons and I understand. Children could get hurt. Their reasons is children's will go to school in the dark and get run over by a car and teens will miss out on sports. However, this claim is invalid because it’s the parents responsibilities to take care of your own child. Your own child have a choice to go to the bus, get pick up, or even walk home. Also if the child has practise or anything important after school, the coach or who is responsible for it should understand and should probably change the time when the event happen if all the kid are leaving school more late. It is better for students to go to school more late because students need enough sleep. Most schools start early like about 8:30am. But most student have to wake up
Over 87% of teenagers don’t get enough sleep and go to school tired. Teenagers have constant expectations to live up to, but with the amount of sleep they’re getting it can be seemingly impossible. The question has been brought up time and time again, should the school day start later? Because of the risks of not getting enough sleep, trying to keep up with their their busy schedules, and being in their adolescent years, having the school day start later would help teenagers around the world immensely.
Staying up until 1am to finish math homework and studying for that huge history test next class is pretty routine for some teens. Juggling school, sports, a social life, and other extracurriculars is tough, and teens are already in a critical period in their life. It is the time period in which teens grow and learn the most, and sets them up for a bright future. Staying healthy both mentally and physically is imperative, and sleep is probably the most important. Schools starting as early as 7am limits a teen’s potential. If schools were to start later, the benefits would be endless. Schools starting later improves both physical and mental health of students, keeps the individual and those around them safer, and improves students performance in school and sports.
Many of my school friends have tried to argue the point that school should start later. All of those friends for which only added their opinion and failed to use scientific information and lost their argument. not only does it have to do with adolescence, but mental health in teens, and educationally. and I heard of puberty? shouldn't our parents, teachers and other people who wake us up at the crack of dawn care if we succeed.
Schools all around the nation have starting times for school, that are too early for the students and teachers alike. Sleep loss has become more common in children due to early start times which only gives them 6-7 hours of sleep a night when growing children should have 8-9 hours a night. children suffer the chronic loss of sleep due to the hormonal roller coaster that you call puberty, which only lets them begin to go into a REM sleep around 10 p.m. . It’s also been proven that adolescent children suffer from highers risks of physical health problems, mental health problems, lower test scores, missing school, substance abuse, and being in a car crash due to sleep deprivation. Students end up having to get up before 6:30 to get ready and catch the bus or walk to school, but when you have to study for hours after school, eat, clean up, participate in extracurricular activities, including sports and clubs, and do chores in less than 4 hours to get the sleep they require to be healthy mentally and physically it’s almost impossible. School should start later to better our future generations, with more sleep we could have more positive members of societies.
Most people want peace in life well did you know that sleeping is the most peaceful thing you can do? Just think about how many times you woke up for school and just wanted to sleep a little bit longer well, just imagine if you could sleep two hours longer. A lot of teens have busy schedules and never really have time to get a full 8 hours of sleep. Unfortunately some teens are exhausted of not getting enough sleep and can lead to disease,depression,anxiety,and obesity. Schools should start later because kids need to rest and to stay healthy.
It would be nice if students could wake up at 7:00 and feel refreshed and be ready for a good school day. Well, students can’t do that because of the “IMS Student/Parent Handbook”. It states in the handbook “7:25 a.m. to 2:25 p.m.” which are the school times when school begins and when it stops. Independence Middle School should start at 8:15 a.m. because students will be more alert, they will have more time in the morning to eat, and they will learn the material better.
“Waking up at the crack of dawn for another day of school really isn’t fun anymore”. Students been having lack of sleep by waking up too early and still getting poor grades. School needs to start later so students can have a better mood, have enough sleep, more time on homework for the athletes.
To begin with, later starting times would give kids more health benefits, including getting needed nutrients, and getting more energy for the day. According to (American Academy Of Pediatrics) Even half an hour later start “has major health benefits”. Starting school later gives kids more time to get there day started, for this reason schools should start later. Also some people may not have an apatite early in the morning, or do not have time to eat. Not eating causes kids to not have as many vitamins, and nutrients as they need. Health benefits help kids out in all activities. This shows why schools need to start later.
Do you want schools to start later than the average start time? Well I do because the average start time of schools in the country is 8:30 and study says that school should start later than average start time and kids never get any sleep or get to do their homework and effects with our grades.
Imagine this, you’re up until 12 a.m the previous night completing your homework, putting the finishing touches on your project and studying for you big exam the next day. You have to wake up at 6 a.m. to be able to have enough time to get ready and commute to school, but not enough time to enjoy a healthy and well balanced breakfast because school starts promptly at 7:50 a.m .How will this affect you throughout the school day ? I believe that school days should begin later than 7:50 AM because if so students will be able to get enough sleep and will have enough travel time.
Overall, yes schools should start later for the most important reason which is someone’s health and your mind. It has to do with a person's breathing, brain, and vision. In conclusion, everyone needs sleep no matter what they are doing. Sleeping is one of the most important things because it keeps people away from getting short breathes and it helps you stay more focused throughout the day. “Sleep plays a vital role in good health” as said in the NIH Department. Getting more sleep can prevent many things and it’s time to make it our number one
“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”, (Benjamin Franklin). One is expected to attend school regularly and perform to their best ability. However, to attend and perform at ones best ability, it is expected that they are in their best state, mentally and physically. Thus, I believe that school should, undoubtably, begin at a later time and end at a later time. I believe that, without question, due to the positive aspects that will result in the students academic, mental and physical conditions. A primary factor in ones mental health is dependant on their quality and quantity of sleep, however, it is said that about 85% of teen students do not achieve this amount. Most teenagers will stay up later (especially in our society) and thus sleepless in an effort to get up early enough to go to school (Elwell 324). Why do teenagers stay up later and sleep less? Teenagers stay up late and sleepless because of school starting time. For many years, people have discussed the topic of school starting times. Some schools have started their time later during the day but some still have their same time, starting too early in the morning for teenagers.
Nevertheless Some Students, and Teachers have a hard time getting up for school around 6, waking up that early, sometimes causes attitudes, dozing off in class, and unhealthy students, and teachers, school should start at 9 this would be better for everyone.
Finally, having school start later helps promote the safety of the kids. When school starts early, teens usually don’t get enough sleep.
