Name: Kareem Toluwalope Student ID: B00781950 The Possible Future Of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Artificial Intelligence is the process of humanizing machines. Artificial Intelligence has a lot of benefits and disadvantages, which would increase in the coming years. Artificial Intelligence would be beneficial to humans because we have a lot to improve upon in our society. Artificial Intelligence would be a great asset, but it should be treated with caution. Machines with AI could be used in medical facilities to diagnose illnesses or to search for symptoms or the presence of anomalies in the bodies of patients (Keiser, 2017). Doctors constantly lament the delays in diagnosing diseases in a developing country. The use Artificial …show more content…
There would be increased cybersecurity. Although machines with Artificial Intelligence would be great, there are certain risks involved in the manufacturing of such machines. Imagine a scenario whereby a machine was trained with the wrong training set, and such a training set contained details on how to crash the stock market. If a machine places several orders and cancels them before people could buy them, over a long period of the time then there would be a fall in the price of stocks (Michael Maiello, 2015). This could crash an economy and cause mass unemployment. When people are unemployed there is usually a rise in the crime rate. The crash of the stock market is not even the worst case scenario if the knowledge of Artificial intelligence is utilized by the wrong set of people. Machines are very specific. When we give instructions to machines we also need to be specific. If we are not specific this could lead to disasters. For example, if you tell a machine to clean your house, that’s very vague. The machine could clean your house by throwing away all your belongings that it sees as clutter. Imagine a scenario where you are the in the way of a machine completing its task (Jen Mills, 2015). How do you stop the machine from doing away with you? Humans face the possibility of extinction (The benefits of artificial intelligence.2016). The reason is that power is not dependent on strength, wealth, appearance or
It could prevent humans working jobs that are dangerous, dirty and dull. Jobs that are simple and would repative would go to machinery, jobs that would be high risk would go to the robots and jobs like sewers would go to the robots. This would make mankind's life on the battlefield much easier. Some machines have been built to carry supplies for on the ground troops which would allow soldiers to move faster. Error of missing targets, removing fight or flight and the removal of shoot first ask questions later. After these machines would be built, costs would go down and efficiency would go up. Less soldiers would be required to acquire a site due to the suitability of these man made machines. In the long run machine can be more efficient than humans and more affordable in the long run. AI has the capability of learning and understanding its
In the article, Let’s Stop Freaking Out About Artificial Intelligence, authors Eric Schmidt and Sebastian Thrun argue that artificial intelligence’s benefits vastly outweigh the consequences, and that it can be used to improve our everyday lives. The authors argue that when one self-driving car makes a mistake, “all of the self-driving cars learn from it” (Schmidt & Thrun 4), implying that self-driving cars are much safer than cars that are driven manually by humans. They claim that since people don’t learn from other people's’ mistakes, hundreds of thousands of people die every year due to traffic accidents because of it. With artificial intelligence, those numbers would vastly decrease and would save hundred of thousands of lives. In addition, the authors take a much more optimistic view of A.I, as they write about how the AI revolution “could free us from menial, repetitive, and mindless work” (Schmidt & Thrun 5), meaning that artificial intelligence can do all of the dirty work for us, while we do the much easier things. Schmidt and Thrun implies that we would be much happier doing the simpler things and not having to worry about possible injuries during their work. They state that artificial intelligence can be used to protect us from identity theft with facial recognition and improve our lives and abilities by harnessing A.I.
Artificial intelligence, or AI for short, is “the intelligence exhibited by machines or software.” AI is found in many forms in our society, from video games to traffic predictions to the autocorrect in our phones. When machine personalities are no longer distinguishable from human ones, however, there will be implications for humanity. This advancement will at first be met with skepticism, and the first people to interact with these AI will not consider them sentient beings. Artificial intelligence will eventually be complex enough to exhibit human-like personality, and it is at this point that we will embrace machines, and redefine selfhood to include artificial beings. Once we consider AI sentient, they will rapidly advance until they are
Famous visionaries such as Bill Gates and Stephen Hawking share that belief as well. Bill Gates once stated that “First the machines will do a lot of jobs for us and not be super intelligent… A few decades after that though the intelligence is strong enough to be a concern.” Stephen Hawking’s has as a similar concern. He said that “The development of full artificial intelligence could spell out the end of the human race.” Both of their quotes are implying that artificial intelligence will help us out greatly but in the end it will kill us. Artificial intelligence isn’t built because we should but because we can. These famous visionaries have come to agree that AI will soon be the end of human
With all technological advancements, there will always be trades made when considering the outcome-the benefits and risk that the technology presents. The theory and practical uses of AI so far are beneficial, but this has both experts in machine learning and other influential people worried about AI as a weapon or misunderstanding their own programming is an absurd notion to make. Yes, there are very real “fears” when considering that it will put most blue-collar workers out of jobs, but that is another discussion. When considering these accusations that AI is an existential threat and waiting to occur, there are a few reasons for why AI is going to benefit us in a safe way more than hurt us in the long run. First, while learning software does “learn,” we chose what it learns and how it learns-meaning that we have full control over it. Secondly, if AI is created, the purpose will not be intended as nefarious, but as a way to safe keep life-through defending ourselves with it. Lastly, with the application of AI to other sciences, the progressive, new technology developed by working with scientists will create better technology to benefit humanity.
If human hadn’t eaten the food the same way the ancestor of over a half million years ago did, which was to cook them first, it would have taken more than nine hours of eating a day to power the brain. (15) Cooked foods are pre-digested, softer and easier to swallow, promoting complete digestion and absorption of nutrients. The same idea applies with allowing AI to take over time consuming and difficult task. The impact that AI brings far more than just direct consequences. With AI, people work less and can spend more time exercising, maintaining a balance between physical and mental health, which prevents stress and lowers the suicide or crime rate. Others can volunteer and help people in need while some can spend more time with their relatives. The smartest one after all is still humans. They design machines to do the hard work so they can have more time for
What if we shifted our perspective to view AI in this same light? Just as humans are innately flawed in many ways, our creations are as well. AI would be no exception to this rule-- because AI can be seen as a reflection of humanity, it may even be proof of this rule. No matter how benevolent the intent behind a product’s creation, there’s always the danger of misuse and abuse-- in order for society to continue advancing, we must be willing to deal with these potential perils, as they are an inevitable aspect of
Artificial intelligence has become a big controversy between scientists within the past few years. Will artificial intelligence improve our communities in ways we humans can’t, or will they just cause danger to us? I believe that artificial intelligence will only bring harm to our communities. There are multiple reasons why artificial intelligence will bring danger to humanity, some of them being: you can’t trust them, they will lead to more unemployment, and they will cause more obesity.
The merging of the human mind and artificial intelligence, it will help solve problems that have forever plagued society, such as crime, violence, racism, wars and unequal distribution of wealth. Technologies will allow us to strengthen our brains with non-biological materials to a degree that at the moment that we cannot imagine. Some engineers and fiction writers have envisioned aspects of a future that is now becoming the present. Some had utopian takes, others dystopian; both are evident in the intriguing benefits and cautionary challenges we face.
While experts disagree with how many jobs will be lost due to intelligent machines, most experts would at least agree that jobs will greatly be impacted by automation becoming more prevalent in all fields of the labor force. In society, "there is already a much wider range of application of machine intelligence to tasks traditionally done by humans than many people realize" (Cameron 14). Labor has already started going down in some workplaces where automation has taking over and reports from Bloomberg believe that machines could, 'replace up to have the US workforce within the next decade or two' (Cameron, Peterson 15). This would clearly create an unemployment situation where the current recession and depression of the thirties would look like a joke when compared. Humans could become obsolete in the workforce. General A.I. could decide that humans are not as effective as robots in the workplace and would possibly decide to have machines replace all humans job tasks. The economy would change drastically as a result of huge numbers of unemployment. Unemployment grouped with loss of purpose paints a very bleak possible future if we are to create a conscious general artificial intelligent
The controversy of artificial intelligence has been thoroughly debated throughout the years. Research into artificial intelligence, or AI, has continuously been updated, fixed, or broadened. The question is, would artificial intelligence improve and develop our society in a positive way if continued to be researched or would it greatly risk the lives of our species. Some believe that by constructing these advances in AI it could potentially benefit our civilization. However, most see artificial intelligence as a threat and wish to see it stopped.
Life with A.I. will be easier if used properly. Many tasks that people face today will become much simpler and less time-consuming allowing for time to be spent more productively. Tasks such as shopping and transportation will become automated for you. The average person will be able to spend more time doing what they please rather than the tasks plagued with us today. The key to all this however is ensuring that this new time be spent bettering society rather than becoming lazy and unproductive such as what the movie Wall-E predicts happening. In Wall-E the ordinary citizen spends their time in front of a monitor watching shows while technology does everything for them. This too can happen in our future.
The Paper gives a brief depiction of the Artificial Intelligence in the diverse fields and the future utilization of the AI which achieves the level of human knowledge in the propelled fields of the day by day attempt and how it suffocates us into its innovation are discussed in the paper.
Artificial Intelligence is a topic within the public media that has existed for decades, but is now a concern due to the reality of human advancement and innovation in the field of science and technology. Many people believe that computers will become self-aware or sentient and view humanity as a disposable resource and gain supremacy. Reasoning that research on the technology should halt and not become more advance. Whereas others believe they will help catapult research and the economy forward, supporting the operations and innovations the technology offers. The complicated and divided solutions to the debate aren’t obvious, but there are more benefits to improving artificial intelligence than there is stopping it. Therefore, the negative effects people believe will occur can be resolved.
Most experts agree that Artificial Intelligence is on the increase in various fields. It has become one of the most controversial scientific issues of the twenty-first century. It raises the unemployment rate, workers will not find enough jobs for them and some of them may lose their work. As a result of technology, according to Wilson, Daugherty and Bianzino (2017), "The threat that automation will eliminate a broad swath of jobs across the world economy is now well established. As Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems become ever more
