Most people go through life and always hear about the word respect, but they don’t know what it means. Respect is the esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person. There are things in life you need to hold in respect. Respect for yourself, respect for others, and respect for property. Respect is taught to people everywhere and it is even taught to them in their religions. Respect is the very aspect that keeps everything in your life. Respect for yourself is very important to a person because it can be the balancing factor of your life. If a person has no respect for themselves the will most likely go into depression. Respecting yourself is also important for your self-esteem. Having a high self-esteem means that people …show more content…
Respecting your elders is important because they know more than you and they know what is good for you and what isn’t. Respecting your peers is important too. Respecting your peers means not making fun of them, not fighting, and helping them when they are troubled by something. Lastly respecting property means not damaging or taking something that is not yours. Respecting property can vary from writing on a desk at school to stealing from a store. Respecting property is important because if you don’t it could be considered a felony offense. But respecting property is just using your common sense. There is a Japanese culture that teaches us to respect the environment because they believe that the earth is holy, such as the trees, grass, and animals. You may be asking yourself “what does this have to do with respecting property?” But respecting property does not just mean that you shouldn’t damage things that are not yours but it also means taking care of your enviorment. There is an old saying “do onto others as you would have them do onto you.” How would you feel if someone came along and broke your bicycle, or trampled on your flowers? Most people don’t think about how the other person would feel if someone did something to their personal property. There is a Japanese culture that teaches us to respect the environment because they believe that the earth is holy,
RESPECT mean that we need to be nice to each other and help each other when people need it. Me and my sisters try to be nice to each other but when we don’t we call each other names but I notice that when we need thing we need things we apologize. We try to respect each other but sometimes we just don’t care.
To me, respect means to treat everybody with care and recognition. Being respectful is about accepting a person’s styles, methods, and thinking as well as showing him or her courtesy and politeness. Treat people the way you want to be treated by showing him or her the same respect you want for yourself. This action could be carried out in a day-to-day classroom by allowing someone to include their own ideas and contribute to things such as group projects or just being kind in conversation and other types of communication. If someone were to walk into the room and observe this community agreement, he or she would see people sharing techniques and suggestions and nicely commenting on each other’s opinions. He or she would see students including
Interpretation As a child, we all adapt from our imprints such as when our parents teach on becoming a good person. We adapt our good and our bad habits from our parents, and we grow from our experience. It is important to respect yourself because we should have a positive cognitive thinking , a healthy spirit even when we are in a difficult situation . One should know what he or she can establish. Respect should be given no matter how someone treats you. Always have respect for yourself, and other
Respect is the admiration of one’s abilities, qualities and achievements. I believe most people don't cherish their achievements rather than uphold their abilities to someone else. The respect you gain are driven from you’re qualities. The qualities you perform during an event, a meeting and a argument are delicate pieces that connect to gain one's
Respect is primarily a way of showing your appreciation for others. It is about recognizing that the other person is worth something and therefore deserves basic manners and kindness. Respect should be shown to everyone you meet, regardless of characteristics such as gender, race, or sexual orientation. One must recognize that each individual that you meet means something and is therefore

there are many different kinds of respect. You can respect or disrespect places, items, beliefs, cultures, and people. My definition of respect is understanding the difficulties that person has faced in their life will trying to reach the goal they are striving for and troubles they had in the past that might hold them back from reaching their goal. They don't necessarily have to have exceeded in their endeavor but that they tried hard and making it through obstacle along the way is an achievement itself. When I respect someone I value who they are as a person, what they have done or been through in their life, and what they can do or are trying to accomplish. Depending on who you respect says many thing about you personally. The people you respect have some form of influence or impact on you life in.
Additionally, there are numerous meanings on being respectful. Primarily, respectful means a person to treat someone as one wants to get treated as. Even that ‘someone’ doesn’t want to respect the person, she/he must treat the person well. If the person doesn’t, that will make the person as same as the person who didn’t treat the one at first. Another meaning of respectful would be to listen to other’s opinions. When students do group projects with other people, they should always listen to their peers’ ideas, because that is respect, and there might be a better idea. Lastly, being respectful means to treat everyone equally. Maybe the treatment to an unknown person and a best friend will totally be different, but this case will be discrimination on anything. For example, Race, gender, language, looks and income. We are all equal as people, so we always have to treat others equally without any discrimination. Being respectful means to treat someone as one wants to get treated as, listening to other’s opinions, and treating everyone
Respect is something that is earned and it is not earned through the things that you say, but the things that you do. If you are trying to earn someone’s respect I guarantee you that if you just talked to them all of the time they would not like for that. You have to prove it through the things that you do and the ways that you act. This was a big thing back in the west. If a new guy came to town he did not earn respect through all of the people he talked to and the stories that he told, because those were just stories. He had to earn it by what he did. This is where actions really speak louder than words. Respect is also something that everyone in life is looking for, whether they know it or not and sometimes they think they have done everything to deserve it, when really they have not done the most important thing; prove they can follow up and what they say. You have to be able to back up all of the words that come out of your mouth with actions because there is just talking about doing something and then there is
Treat others like they are important, and they really are. Most people want to feel appreciated, valued, and want to be treated with dignity. Treat others with the amount of respect you expect to receive from them. Being respectful to other exhibits you have respect for yourself.
It seems like many controversies are going on in our world today. Because of this, respecting others is vital to ensure that everyone feels important and listened to. If people think only about themselves without considering how their actions might affect others, people around them will not think highly of them. It will be hard to earn their respect in return.
One thing everyone looks for in life is respect. Why is that? Maybe it's a self esteem problem or a sign of authority in the eyes of one seeking respect. Many people in this world are born with respect because of who their parents may be,but for others it's not as simple.Respect comes in so many ways and forms, how is one to one which is right? A large amount of people feel like respect is earned and not given. The real question is, How can respect be earned?
Throughout life we were taught how to act and behave. We were taught by your parent's, teachers, as well as our own senses of your surroundings. Each and every person goes through life in a different atmosphere. The word respect basically means the way you understand something, and embracing the similarities or differences. The way you and I understand something, others may be complete opposite side of the fence in their point of view on the same topic. This is where Respect ultimately comes to play. Respect is acknowledging these differences while not letting the difference come between you in a negative way. I personally view respect as a positive influence, never negative no matter how its used.
To me respect means is to be kind to others. What My dad use to say “be kind to others and they will be kind back to you. This core is important to me because when I was little I was not kind to others I was disrespectful to other because they were disrespect to me so that is what they deserve. One day I was walking to school and a bunch of kids where be mean to me they were calling me names and making fun of my weight because I was big, one day I had enough and they were talking about me and then I started talking about them and then when they talk to me I make fun of them. I started making fun of people when I was in 4th grade because I did not like when they were calling me names and I stopped when I
Respect is something earned not given. Treat others the way you want to be treated is a form of respect. You should respect the army men and women that fight for this country because freedom is not free. I respect my uncle because he fought in the Iraq war. You should respect your teachers because they spend their time trying to teach you. You need to respect your coaches because they push you to do your best and they want you to be good at many things in life. In conclusion
