The Westing Game is about a group of heirs trying to find the murderer of Sam Westing. The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin contains many clues and mysteries that are worth millions of dollars. Gull Lake Middle School has read the book and watched the movie about TWG. The goal of The Westing Game is to win. In the book Sunset Towers was a beautiful apartment building on the shore of Lake Michigan. With the Westing mansion up on a hill. The book was about 16 heirs trying to find the murderer of Sam Westing. The movie was centered around one heir named Turtle and there were 10 of 16 heirs. Sunset Towers was a bad place to live downtown. Those were the storylines of both versions of the story. Some things are different in the book and movie. Like Sunset Towers and Money in both versions. Sunset towers is luxurious in the book but a bad place to live downtown. The money the will was worth 200 million but in the movie it is worth 20 million. Another difference is that the Wexlers moved to Sunset Towers because they had no money, but in the book they moved because they had money. In the movie Jake Wexler is paying off his debt though they have money in the book. Jake Wexler is a …show more content…
There are many of the same people like Turtle, Angela, Grace, Hoo, Otis Amber, and Berthe Erica Crow. Also the money is both in the 2’s of millions like 20 and 200. Mr. Hoo still owns a Chinese restaurant that does very poorly. Also Berthe Erica Crow is still partnered with Otis Amber, and they still own the Good Salvation Soup Kitchen. As always Turtle still wins the Westing Game. That’s just a small list of what the similarities are between the book and movie. That is the similar and different aspects of the movie and novel versions of The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. Like Mr. Hoo having a chinese restaurant, but no wife in the movie and Doug not being an heir in one version. I think the book was a better experience than the
Some similarities are, one, the characters are the same. Winnie foster,in the movie and the book still kept her same name, her feelings about wanting to leave. In the book on page 13 it says , “Winnie Foster sat on the bristly grass just outside the fence” showing that her name is the same. Another similarity is, Mae Tuck hits the man in the yellow over the head with the rifle. In the movie it shows Mae Tuck hitting the man in the yellow suit
The first big difference, and one of the most obvious happened to be the shipwreck that happened in the movie, while in the story Rainsford fell off the yacht and no one noticed. The next major difference is the fact that Rainsford met the other victims of shipwreck incidents and became close to the girl, Eve, who also was living in the mansion. Many other details of the story were altered since the female part was written in, the most obvious being that she went with Rainsford when he was hunting against Zaroff. Once they were out in the jungle, they started building the man catcher instead of hiding in the tree first. Their next attempt to stop Zaroff was also different than in the book, because Rainsford didn’t have to dig a hole; they just used one that was already there. Towards the end Rainsford walks into the mansion while Zaroff is playing piano, and once they fight and Rainsford wins, he leaves with Eve instead of staying and sleeping in Zaroff’s
One way the story is different from the movie is that the story is very descriptive of characters and
Both the novel and the film share indistinguishable qualities. For example,They both have the same places as the novel. There were the DX,Tasty Freeze, the lot,the church, and the characters houses.Since they had the same places the same things happened. They have the same places so,they have the same scenes. However, they seem identical, they have a lot of differences.
The novel is about 16 heirs trying to figure out who killed Sam Westing. With clues each pair got $10,000. As the pairs look for answers to their clues they have to be careful for what they get in the future of The Westing Game. There are only ten characters in the movie compared to sixteen characters in the book. As they also are looking
In both the novel and the movie Kenny wanted to brave and go swimming with the whool pooh. Another major similarities is the church bombing. Well Joetta was at Sunday school a bomb went off. Kenny was outside and heard a lound noise. The whole family went to see if Joetta was ok.
The movie and the book have similar qualities. Both have the same setting. For, instance they both take place in Tulsa, Ok, the town that all the characters live in. The town that has the DX Gas Station But, the DX Gas Station got robbed. They both give great similarities hat the movie and the book are very different.
In the book there was Flora Baumbach but in the movie there isn’t,Sydelle Pulaski kind of took Flora’s job in the movie because Sydelle was a mother like figure and Sydelle wasn’t herself in the book. In the book Sydelle wanted tons of attention and in the movie she really didn’t want that much attention. There was no Theo Theodorakis or D.Denton Deere, Dr.Deere was in the movie for a little bit but didn’t have a big part he only helped Angela when the bomb went off and scraped her face. The setting is even different in both the book and the movie in the book Sunset Towers is a huge brand new building made of glass right over the shores of Lake Michigan. In the movie it was an older rundown building made of bricks and not the big luxurious hotel we imagined.
In the novel, there were two very special characters- Turtle and Sydelle. But in the movie, Ellen Raskins characters do change a bit. In the novel, Turtle Wexler always wears braids. In fact, she kicks people if they pull them. But in the movie Turtle doesn't wear braids, not even once. Also in the book, Sandy Mcsouthers and Turtle had a very close connection in terms of friendship. While in the movie, they argue almost anytime they see each other. On the other hand, Sydelle Pulaski is also very different. Just like how in the novel of The Westing Game, Ellen Raskin makes it very obvious that Sydelle uses crutches for attention. While in the movie, they don’t even mention it once. Also, in the book, Sydelle Pulaski doesn’t carry an animal, but in the movie, Sydelle carries a dog everywhere. Also in the book, Flora Baumbach was like a mother figure to Turtle, but since Flora wasn’t in the movie, Sydelle took her place in that situation. In regards to the characters, Turtle and Sydelle are very
There are other significant similarities between the movie and the book, so if I overlooked or forgot any extremely crucial points, forgive me.

The first similarity is the characters in the movie and book. A way that the characters do not change is that Nag and Nagaina are the antagonists and Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is the protagonist. While the family are some
In the novel, a man by the name of Sam Westing started “The Westing Game.” In the game, the heirs are trying to figure out who murdered Sam Westing. But at the end, they find out he was never dead. In the movie, all of the heirs go to Sunset Towers and the game is made. The heirs try to figure out who killed Sam Westing. They soon learn that he is still alive. The book and movie are very similar.
Here are some differences with the characters. Meg one of the main character's in the book has glasses and braces, but in the movie she doesn't have braces or glasses. Another main character is Charles-Walace and in the book he is five, doesn't go to school, and can't read, but in the movie he is six go's to school, and can read well. These are the differences
