1. What is revealed about human nature (from Gen 1-2)? In Genesis one and 2, it provides a full understanding of God’s creations and wisdom of human nature because it is free from evil. God created everything from nothing; to be perfect from his perspective. Human nature is revealed from Genesis one with God creating the Earth and the Heavens and creating the man of his likeness. The Bible explains how God created the man named Adam from the dust and was placed in the Eden’s Garden (Genesis 2:7). Adam helped God to take care of the land and all his creation. The Bible explains, Humanity was created to work and serve, keep the garden (Genesis 2:15). Subsequently, Eve was created; “God had created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him: male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27). Adam and Eve would help God because He wanted them to multiply the Earth by taking care of his creations (Hiles & Smith, 2014). God is the sovereign ruler which he created humanity as how he should have wanted. The Bible explains about human nature that God created everything to be distinct from animals and all His creation. Humankind is able to show on our nature because we are capable of reasoning. God created all differently and we were all born naked and pure as Adam and Eve were. God created in his own image that why we all look different; we are unique in His eyes. Also, God created us to be good because we are born innocent of all evil and loving God.
In Genesis 2:4b-3:24 humanity was shown in humble origins, which allowed man to be created from the earth causing a connection with the earth. Man was given dignity by having the responsibility of naming the animals and also by abiding by God’s rule. Woman was created from man in order to form a connection with him. The connection that man and woman has is intimate.
In the second creation story Gods interest was to find man a partner stating “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper as his partner” (Genesis 2:18). God attempted to bring every animal in creation to the man in hopes that they would fit as a good partner but they did not. The LORD than decided to make a creature for man to partner with stating “then he took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman” (Genesis 2:21-22) Thus making man a fitting partner.
Gen (2) revealed the formation of mankind from the dust of the ground Adam was made to take care of the land. Then God thought man should not be alone and form Eve from one of Adams Rib first to help him take care of the living creatures take care of the earth and obey the laws that were given to them, by being fruitful and multiple the earth as well as taking care everything on earth. (Gen 2)
God said, “Let us make man in out image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. So God created man in his own image,in the image of God he created him;male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:26-27 ESV). As we can see from scripture God created the the heavens and the earth, and then God created man and woman to rule over it.
When reading the Holy Bible many people will question the creation of man. In the book of Genesis, God gives vivid readings of how earth and man came to form. Genesis 1:27 says, "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." God presented us with the first man on earth being created from dust of the ground, which was known to be Adam. Genesis 2:7 states, "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." God took only one out of the seven days to create man leading to the later on creation of woman, who we know as Eve. After the creation of man, God sent man to the Garden of Eden to make sure he was taken care of. The garden consisted of trees that were pleasant to sight, and which were good for food. In the midst of the garden, a tree of life and knowledge of good and evil was present. Once man had arrived, God commanded him to eat of every tree freely, except for the tree of good and evil. If Adam was to eat of the tree he was to surely die. God later on tells Adam that it was not good for man to be alone so he took one of his ribs and created woman. He had placed him
The center of Gen 1 is how humanity is created from dust and in the image of God.Even Adam’s name means humanity and soil while Eve means companion. He is also a 'loving craftsman'.This stresses out His absolute sovereignty based on how his words alone can put the world into existence.Gen 2 states how God not only creates but also blesses;in fact the purpose of creation is to experience ‘wholeness’.In Genesis 3,effects of broken creation, nature of sin,and meaning of our choices are revealed. The temptation in Gen 3 is to be like the all knowing God.Gen1-3 reveal that creation is not just a gift but a ‘relational’responsibility.Scriptures affirm and remind us of these through deep
In the beginning, God spoke all of creation into existence. From the dust of the ground He formed man, and from the man, He formed woman. After creating man, He looked at all of His creation and said that it was very good (Genesis 1:31). Adam and Eve lived and worked in the beautiful garden of Eden, enjoying all of God’s creations and fellowship with Him. That is, until one day Adam and Even sinned before the Lord by eating the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Their decision, impacted by Satan himself, was in direct conflict with God’s directions for them. For He had told them that they could eat of any tree of the garden, except from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Their actions introduced sin into the human
After this God decides to create woman out of the flesh of Adam’s side, this unifies that they are one (Genesis 2:24). Through this unified bond, this is used to symbolize marriage and what God created as a covenant relationship between man and woman. We also need to remember that God gave Adam one wife, and that they were only to have children together (Genesis 4:1). As we read further we learn of other moral codes God place as well. When Cain killed Abel, God explicitly explained to him that all people are made in God’s image and that murder is sinful (Genesis 2:10). In chapter two of Genesis, God share that “men began to call upon the name of the Lord”. This shows us that seeking God alone and worshiping Him is something every person should do according to the Lord (Genesis 2:26). After the flood, God again states that murder is sinful because each individual is precious to God (Genesis 9:6). God gave us a moral code to live by and how we should treat others. This is especially important to remember because we are children of
Genesis is not just a book that is intended to be read for educational reasons only, but offers teachings on the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and civilization; and is among one of the living Word of God, and efficient of shaping and affecting one’s worldview. In the first eleven chapters of Genesis, we start to see how much these facts affect our worldview. Centered on the knowledge of man’s depraved nature, I believe that man is completely and entirely corrupted and is in complete need of Jesus’ virtue there is to be discovered pleasing in front of the God. Built on the understanding of man being created in the image of God, I believe we should treat everyone the way we want to be treated. Everyone is created in the
Genesis chapter two delves deeper into the creation of man. Moses gives accounts of the first man, Adam, and how he was formed from the dust of the earth. Adam was alone until Eve was created from the tissue taken from his side. "God created man in his own image," as stated in Genesis chapter one, verse 27. Thus, setting man in a class by himself, created in the image of God and placed in dominion over all other creatures (Gen 1:26).
Genesis one and two explained the creation of the world and humans by God. God provided everything for humans to enjoy their life, but humans ate from the tree that God warned them to stay away from. In these two genesis the good nature of what God created was explained very well. God created the humans with positive characteristics in a positive environment. There are two aspects of human nature in Christianity, one is that humans were created in the image of God and second one is that humans are sinful by nature. The sinfulness of humans’ nature is due to the reason that humans are able to walk in the pathway that is against God’s desire. As it was mentioned in the Bible Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and the
Well let’s get started…It’s time to pick up your Bibles. One can conclude that from the Book of Genesis (Gen.) up until the Book of Malachi (Mal.), that there are underlying themes of God’s overall plan for humanity: To love God, to love others, and to give-off a responsible love for God’s world. Now this love is contingent upon one’s ability to: (1) Trust God (2) To Believe in Him, and (3) To Obey Him. In the Book of Genesis, it vividly paints a picture of God’s loving nature and reasoning for human creation. One can find in Genesis chapters 1 and 2 much meaning of our existence from the following scriptures: Gen. 1:27 -28 reads, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And
In my reading on the Genesis stories 1-22, I thought something that stands out to me is how God is depicted in comparison to humans in the first story compared to later stories. God creates the world by taking a dark chaos and turns it into a beautiful garden where humans can flourish. In the first genesis story God states after finishing creating the world in seven days that it’s good. “And God saw that this was good” Seven times this text appears implying that God saw everything he made as perfectly good. This is where we meet the human characters in the bible, Adam and Eve. Adam is the Hebrew word for humanity and Eve is the Hebrew word for life, and God created them in his own image. In other words, humanity reflects or is meant to reflect
Genesis also taught us about humankind. Humankind was created to be a relational being and to be a steward. God created humankind to be in relation with God and with each other. God
Genesis 1:27 states, “So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them (NIV).” This verse and the surrounding verses explain to us that we were made in the image of God and if we fast forward to Genesis 5:1, it tells us that He made us in the likeness of God. Between the two verses, we come to realize that as humans we were created to be like Him not to be Him. By being created in His image and likeness, we have been given the ability to show love towards others, be faithful and compassionate towards all, have integrity, obtain wisdom and so much more. Being created the way we were is a gift and because of it, we should always show these characteristics in our day-to-day lives. In the future, I hope to plant my own church or become a fulltime missionary. Either way, I will get the chance to use God’s gifts and abilities every day.
