Principles of Statistical Inquiry
(1839), Professor G. Tuckers
Progress of the United States
(1843), and J. D. B. De Bows
The Industrial Resources of the Southern and Western States.
In 1839, moreover, was founded the American Statistical Association, whose first secretary, J. B. Felt, published a variety of historical and statistical works on population and finance; while the subject of vital statistics was cultivated especially by L. Shattuck and by Dr. Edward Jarvis, for thirty-one years the president of the Association.
