A friend loveth at all times.

A good man shall be satisfied from himself.

A merciful man is merciful to his beast.

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine; but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

A still, small voice.

A threefold cord is not quickly broken.

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise; but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow.

Hell and destruction are never full, so the eyes of men are never satisfied.

Her sun is gone down while it was yet day.

Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further; and here shall thy proud waves be stayed.

Hope deferred maketh the heart sick.

How forcible are right words!

How long halt ye between two opinions?

How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

If I ascend up into heaven. Thou art there; if I make my bed in hell, behold Thou art there; if I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there shall Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me.

If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted?

If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?

If thou seest the oppression of the poor,… marvel not at the matter: for He that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

In much wisdom is much grief, and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.

It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer; but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.

It is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

Jealousy is cruel as the grave; the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.

Jealousy is the rage of a man.

She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Sorrow is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.

Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward.

When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

When thy judgments are in the earth the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellers there is safety.

Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no tale-bearer, the strife ceaseth.

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil, all the days of her life. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed.

Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.

Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.

Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.

Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression, the same is the companion of a destroyer.

Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

Whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.

Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times.

Wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.

Wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
