NOUN:1. Extreme displeasure caused by an insult or slight: dudgeon, miff, offense, pique, resentment, ruffled feathers, umbrage. See LIKE, PAIN. 2. An angry outburst: fit2, passion, tantrum, temper. Informal : conniption, conniption fit. See FEELINGS.
VERB:1. To cause resentment or hurt by callous, rude behavior: affront, insult, miff, offend, outrage, pique. Idioms: add insult to injury, give offense to. See ATTACK, PAIN. 2. To breathe hard: blow1, gasp, pant, puff. See BREATH.
