(d´thn) (KEY) , city (1990 pop. 53,589), seat of Houston co., SE Ala., near the Fla. line, in a timber and peanut-growing area; inc. 1885. It is the industrial and farm trade center of the region. Among its diverse manufactures are fertilizer, motor vehicle parts, and processed food. A nuclear power plant and a campus of Troy State Univ. are in Dothan. There are hot mineral springs, and a national peanut festival is held annually.
