| 18771934, American humorist and playwright, b. England, educated at the College of the City of New York and at New York Univ. He won fame for his humorous delineations of American Jewish life and character, especially in the cloak and suit trade. Potash and Perlmutter (1910) and Abe and Mawruss (1911) were both successful as magazine stories and later as plays. |
