ATTRIBUTION:Sidney Buchman (1902–1975), U.S. screenwriter. Saunders (Jean Arthur), Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, to Jefferson Smith (James Stewart) at the Lincoln Memorial, after the Senate has begun expulsion proceedings against him (1939).

Paine (Claude Rains) was Smith’s mentor.
