ATTRIBUTION:Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930), British author. Sherlock Holmes, in “The Five Orange Pips,” The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1892).

Holmes expressed a similar idea in “A Study in Scarlet.” See also Doyle’s remark under “Mind, the.”
