1 Module 3 Field Notes SPE 560: Behavior Change Procedures Alexis Campbell March 31, 2024
2 List at least two tasks from the BACB Task List Fifth Edition and at least one item from the BACB Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts that are related to the module: G-4: Use stimulus and response prompts and fading (e.g., errorless, most-to-least, least- to-most, prompt delay, stimulus fading). G-9: Use discrete-trial arrangement. 2.18 Continual Evaluation of the Behavior-Change Intervention During module 3 we learned about the use of stimulus and response prompts, as well as prompt fading procedures, aligning with BACB task list item G-4. Stimulus prompts, which operate on the discriminative stimulus, include emphasizing or exaggerating the stimulus, where- as response prompts specifically act to cue a response. Another task list item aligning with this module is G-9: Using discrete-trial arrangement (BACB, 2017, p.4). Discrete-trial training, or DTT, is a method of instruction which includes simple trials in which correct responses are reinforced, while incorrect responses are typically met with error correction procedures. According to ethics code 2.18: Continual Evaluation of the Behavior-Change Intervention, “If data indicate that desired outcomes are not being realized, they actively assess the situation and take appropriate corrective action.” (BACB, 2014). This concept applies to the use of prompts as discussed throughout the module, and the importance of adjusting the fading/increased use of prompts according to how each individual learner responds to said prompts.
