Module Five Question 1 a. Was this TED Talk engaging? Did you want to keep listening? Why or why not? b. During the presentation, did you ever feel lost or confused? Did you understand the technical concepts that Sabeti presented when explaining her work? c. After listening to her talk, do you feel personally connected to the issue? Does her work affect you? Why or why not? d. Discuss at least one potential drawback of Sabeti's approach that you want to see her address in future presentations, publications, or research. I think her explanation was excellent. After listening to her speech, I completely understood what Sabeti was trying to convey. The coronavirus pandemic that we are now experiencing has a greater impact on a greater number of lives worldwide. Without a doubt, Sabeti's efforts and research can contribute to our understanding of this outbreak. I can only think of one possible flaw in Sabeti's strategy: she shared the data without first reviewing it but she still got her point across clearly. Module Five Question 2 Who is the audience of Pardis Sabeti's TED Talk? Focus not only on the audience shown when the camera cuts away from the stage but also on Sabeti's message and how she chooses to present this message. Who does it seem like she's talking to? What evidence do you rely on to help answer this question? All people working in the healthcare industry are the target audience. Everyone working in the medical field and everybody with an interest in this kind of global issue. She seems to be genuinely searching for someone who can support this effort. Module Five Question 3 How does Pardis Sabeti tailor the message of her presentation to her audience? She told the audience that collaborative efforts and the public release of all available evidence might eventually lead to a solution, or at least some control over the problem. Through the charts she uses, we can visually see how much this disease has taken a toll on the world.
