1 Goals for Success Rough Draft University of Phoenix PSYCH/599 Nicolle Napier Ionascu, Psy.D. 3/19/2024
2 Goals of Success Goals help me stay motivated and achieve things I want to focus on. The strategy that helps me meet my goals is the SMART method which stands for Specific, Measurable, Relevant, and Time-bound which has helped me plan out steps to meet my short or long-term goals. I am currently working on three goals: Live a healthy lifestyle; improve communication; get enough sleep. These three goals play a role to support my academic and professional growth to be successful. SMART Goal #1 Living a healthier lifestyle is my primary objective. My mother passed away from diabetes approximately six years ago. She had complications from diabetes and was 46 years old. She experienced numerous problems, including high blood pressure, hormone problems, and renal failure. I felt that after losing her, I had to improve things for my family and myself. My mother's illness left her mentally exhausted, making it impossible for her to work and support our family. My family has a history of the disease, so I've made the decision to alter my way of life. It's not easy to make this change, but the goal is to eat more fruits and vegetables and lose weight while also improving your diet. Eat roughly four servings of low-carb vegetables and lose thirty pounds. In order to monitor my progress, I will weigh in every Friday. I aim to lose 1- 2 pounds each week. Using my Apple watch, I'll keep track of all my workouts and miles. My Apple Watch keeps track of everything I do and assists me in staying on course. If I don't reach my daily target of 7,000 steps or more and an hour or more of exercise, my watch will notify me. My metabolism will be aided by creating reminders to eat three times a day with two snacks in between. I also have a scale that syncs with my phone's health application. In addition to helping
3 me mentally, I want to lead a healthier lifestyle so that I can live a long life and spend quality time with my lovely family. My goal is to achieve this by walking the 6-mile walking trail in my neighborhood for two miles four times a week. I refuse to make excuses because I want to incorporate in my children a healthy lifestyle and keep them active. My nutritionist has suggested that I consume more berries, such as strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries, as they are low in carbs and high in vitamins and fiber. Consuming roughly 1800 calories per day, 20 grams of carbohydrates per day, and lean meats like turkey, seafood, and chicken breast. My body will become healthier and have more energy as a result. A healthier way of living will strengthen, nourish, and shield the brain from stress. My objective is to lose weight and follow a low-carb diet for approximately three months. I want to give my body time to adjust to this new way of life. SMART Goal #2 Enhancing my ability to communicate at work is my second objective. I'm not sure if the shift from working in an office to working entirely remotely is to blame for the communication problems that have arisen at work. I'm going to monitor this goal by setting up one-hour meetings or one-on-one sessions with my team, and I'm going to ask them to survey each one in order to gauge results. We will talk about change, exchange ideas, and strengthen our bonds as a team during these meetings. Engaging in team-building activities like escape rooms can foster collaboration among individuals, leading to improved communication, trust, problem-solving, and interpersonal relationships. Increasing communication skills professionally can boost morale in the workplace, productivity, and trust. After completing this task in three months, the team will be surveyed to learn about their experiences and to find out what they would like to see
