Hi everyone, For this discussion I did an EcoMap for my youngest daughter and a Genogram for my oldest daughter. Since all three of my girl’s no longer live at home, I chose to do these for the 2 daughter’s that have children. On the EcoMap for my youngest I learned that while there is a really strong support system in place on her side of the family there is a lot of strain and conflict on his side of the family. Two potential goals I would have for them would be to look more into the reasoning for the problems in his relationship with his parents and siblings and secondly to find out why they really are not getting very much out of their jobs. On the Genogram for my oldest daughter until I sat and wrote it out and asked questions of her since she lives in California, and we are in Texas I did not realize that while my husband (her dad) will talk to her on the phone, he really does not talk to the boys much. While her and her youngest sister have a strong relationship her and her middle sister are not really close anymore. Her first husband’s mom has a great relationship with her grandson and my daughter. Her ex- husband’s mom is only close with one of the boys from that marriage and is in a conflicted relationship with my daughter. To me that was weird since both younger boys have the same dad. The two potential goals I would have for this one would be to have the older two sisters to make time in their schedules to talk with each other at least once a week on the phone or through chat. The second goal I would have is for her to investigate why the grandmother is close to one of the grandson’s but not the other and find out if there is something that can be done to fix it before it becomes a problem. A third goal that should be in place is having grandpa talk with the kids when he talks to their mom on the phone. ~Shawna
