Based on the identified problem, it is recommended that Parkway implement specific leadership strategies to revitalize its workforce. One potential leadership theory that might be applied is transformational leadership, which motivates individuals to transcend their interests to benefit the business. Workers at Parkway want sufficient supervision and attention, so if the transformational leadership style is used, it may significantly impact the workers, who will undoubtedly respond with improved levels of dedication (Robbins & Judge, 2018). Transformational leadership has been seen to substantially improve patient outcomes and enhance work satisfaction among staff nurses. According to research by Durmus and Kirca (2020), the transformational leadership style in nursing is widely recognized as the best kind of nursing leadership. A well-defined vision establishes objectives, exhibits adaptability to change, demonstrates a willingness to engage in effective communication and collaboration, exerts influence over subordinates, reflects a commitment to executing their plans, and has an optimistic outlook to serve as strategic leaders effectively. The ethical leadership style may also be considered in the case study titled "The Stress of Caring." Given the prevalence of fraud in the nursing business, leaders may need to establish an ethical culture, beginning with themselves, so that subordinates can follow in their footsteps. Robbins and Judge (2018) suggest that ethical leadership at the top level affects not just immediate subordinates but also permeates across the hierarchical system. Furthermore, utilizing the situational leadership theory benefits the board of directors. This theory posits that effective leadership is contingent upon
the appropriate selection of a leadership style contingent upon the followers' readiness. The readiness of followers refers to the degree to which they are willing and capable of accomplishing a particular task (Robbins & Judge, 2018). • To be strategic leaders in a nursing setting, leaders at Parkway Nursing should use the charismatic leadership theory by making themselves more approachable to nursing staff, fostering open communication, and demonstrating genuine interest in employees. Moreover, leaders using these approaches are likely to enhance the job engagement levels of teams. A charismatic leader is someone who prioritizes effective communication and emotional persuasion to get the Favor of employees. By integrating various leadership styles, staff are expected to be
motivated and inspired to exceed expectations for the organization and its
patients. Workplace stress may have detrimental impacts on people within a professional setting. According to Robbins and Judge (2018), stress is a negative psychological phenomenon arising from external stressors. Based on the data presented in the case study, it is apparent that Parkway
employees experience significant stress levels, encompassing both mental
and physical aspects. The primary factors contributing to occupational stress at Parkway Nursing Care are the high volume of patients, insufficient and incompetent personnel to provide patient care, the inability to take vacation breaks for rejuvenation, and the absence of suitable equipment for patient care. The case study highlights that Parkway's substantial workload is a major cause of stress. It also emphasizes that employees frequently feel overwhelmed by the volume of work they are required to manage within restricted time periods. As a result, this frequently gives rise to sensations
of stress, fatigue, and tiredness, which can potentially contribute to depression and adversely affect customers. This conclusion is substantiated by research on employee stress. Weinfeli and Taris (2014) One study indicated that overwhelming Labor is a prevalent factor contributing to psychological stress. The increasing number of individuals seeking medical attention at Parkway has resulted in heightened levels of stress among the organization's staff. The patients at Parkway are geriatric, requiring specialized attention, and occasionally exhibiting high levels of demands, which can be stressful for personnel and could induce stress. There has been a rise in reports of accidents or diseases, such as back discomfort, caused by lifting patients. This suggests that there needs to be more appropriate equipment and employing personnel when implementing ergonomic solutions is necessary. This is a significant worry for the organization since this management style indicates a need for more seriousness toward employee well-being. According to the case study, Parkway's primary objective of filling beds has resulted in the organization's overworked personnel experiencing stress and demotivation. Due to a significant increase in employee burnout, the corporation has opted to hire young and inexperienced personnel and those who are only motivated by financial compensation. This has worsened the situation, as the seasoned personnel believe the younger staff must provide patients with high-quality treatment.
Furthermore, there are apprehensions surrounding the flexibility of the schedule, as one representative clarified that most job-related stress arises from the inability to take necessary time off. Employees need to take time off to address their childcare obligations. If they do, the quality of work is negatively impacted due to the absence of a contingency plan, necessitating other workers to assume the additional tasks. Another factor
contributing to worker stress is the heightened level of government monitoring, which has been prompted by investigations into instances of patient mistreatment and billing fraud. Consequently, to mitigate these actions, the government mandates more documentation and paperwork, thus enhancing the effort and exacerbating the strain experienced by the workforce. The emotional requirements can be depleting and result in fatigue. Existing research indicates a positive correlation between emotional demands and heightened levels of stress, as well as a negative association with psychological well-being. Employees who often encounter
emotional demands may encounter emotional exhaustion and difficulties properly managing their emotions (MentalHelp.net, accessed 2023). Furthermore, the workforce at Parkway encountered insufficient support mechanisms, resulting in a prevalent sense of lack of assistance from supervisors and colleagues. The absence of adequate support might provide difficulties for employees in managing job expectations and seeking necessary aid. According to The American Institute of Stress (2023), empirical evidence indicates that social support plays a crucial role in mitigating the adverse consequences of stress. Therefore, individuals who do not have access to support systems may encounter elevated levels of stress and a sense of isolation within their professional setting. To mitigate the stress levels experienced by employees, Parkway has the option to implement a range of solutions. To begin with, the organization needs to enhance the employee-to-patient ratio to alleviate the strain to a
more bearable extent. Additionally, all newly recruited employees must receive comprehensive training to ensure their performance is comparable to that of their colleagues, reducing the workload on others. Similarly, acquiring the appropriate equipment to assist staff in transporting clients would alleviate the burden on personnel. Therefore, Parkway has the potential to purchase various equipment, like elevated elevators, wheelchairs, or transfer belts, in response to the increasing burden experienced by its employees.

One prominent leadership theory is the situational leadership theory, which suggests that effective leadership is contingent upon the specific circumstances or context in which it occurs. According to this theory, leaders should adapt their style based on the readiness or maturity level of their followers. In other words, leaders must assess the competence and commitment of their followers and adjust their leadership approach accordingly, whether it be directing, coaching, supporting, or delegating tasks. By flexibly adapting their leadership style to meet the needs of their followers, leaders can maximize their effectiveness and facilitate the achievement of organizational goals.

The path-goal theory of leadership emphasizes the importance of leaders clarifying the path to goal attainment for their followers and providing the necessary support and guidance to help them achieve those goals. According to this theory, effective leaders engage in behaviors that remove obstacles, provide incentives, and offer support to facilitate the success of their followers. These behaviors may include offering coaching and feedback, setting clear expectations, and adjusting their leadership style to fit the needs of individual followers and the demands of the situation. the critical role of leadership is emphasized during times of change. Yet, a universal definition of leadership is non-existent because it is defined by our personal experience. Similarly, describing the difference between leadership and management, both necessary for organizational change, has been described from multiple perspectives. The terminology most used to describe the actions of a leader and the actions of a manager are transformational and transactional. However, in the video, "Leadership vs. Management", Godin (2018) takes a slightly different approach to determine what sets leaders apart from managers by focusing on courage to take responsibility even when risks are high, failure is eminent, and possibilities are only a vision. Considering organizational change, the readings, and video, respond to the following questions:
From your experience how do you distinguish leadership from management? Provide an example of both.
