Private information can be stolen in many ways that one would never imagine. For example, in 2013 laptops that belong to a hospital containg patients’ information were stolen from an employee’s car. For HIPAA to protect patients’ information there should be a two-factor authentication to prevent easy access to records. If HIPAA takes these suggestions into consideration, it can reduce the amount of fraud cases. A two-factor authentication plus a firewall is a perfect way of keeping hackers out of patient’s private information since they do not have access to that information. Today, HIPAA protects individuals’ private information from getting into the wrong hands. An organization can address this topic by testing out a two-factor authentication and comparing the results of when they did not use it. This test will show a decrease in fraud cases.
