Worldview Analysis Decades of life on earth have passed by, but one thing has never changed: that everything to come will change and evolve. From the beginning of time, we have witnessed changes and evolution in the world, in government and economics, and in humans as well. Nothing has stayed the same which is why we learn about history concerning the world, the government, and economics or the way we live life differently than people did back in the 1800’s. Process philosophy directly connects to this theory as in the text we read that “nothing is permanently and absolutely fixed, life and reality are in a process of developing and becoming and truth is always understood as an unfolded process of knowing.” (Ferdon, 2019, p. 125) In this essay, I will write about the evolution of marriage and what can be interpreted from the Bible about what God intended for man and woman. We know from the book of Mark, chapter 10, verses 6-9, “But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh;’ so, then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let not man separate.” (Mark 10:6-9 ESV) That scripture laid the foundation for man and woman to join one another in marriage and follow the plans that the Lord has for families. Throughout time, people have made their own agendas about the sanctity of marriage and families. In my research, I have found that family and marriage has evolved into much more than what God intended for us. Some would argue about whether marriage and family were more influenced by capitalism or socialism. There have been many distinct stages throughout history. One of the changes to family and marriage that caught my attention was during the Russian
Worldview Analysis Revolution of 1917 led by The Bolsheviks, whose leader was Vladimir Lenin. Lenin was a disciple of Karl Marx, and he created the Soviet Union. (Ferdon, 2019, p. 128) It is written that The Bolsheviks and the Marxist-Leninist sought a transformation of society and fought their way to that accomplishment with violent societal upheavals and revolutions. Marx had adapted to his own philosophies, and he was not a believer in God. During his time, he fought for the creation of the international socialist order. Socialism embarked on the end of family and marriage, with the acceptance of free love, and to do as one pleased in relationships. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality became legalized under The Bolsheviks push to socialism. (Cozzarelli, 2018) This notably is the first time when family and marriage went outside the will of God for family and marriage in many ways. Concerning abortion God said, “You shall not murder.” (Exodus 20:13 NIV) Concerning homosexuality and same-sex marriages God said, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.” (Leviticus 18:22 ASV) Concerning divorce, God said, “But I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.” (Matthew 5:32 KJV) When the Bolsheviks introduced the most advanced women’s rights legislation, they wanted to end the capitalist-patriarchal society and fight for what they believed. They did not believe the word of God was the right way to live anymore. The new society of women, family and marriage was not the same after the Bolsheviks end to the family unit. (Cozzarelli, 2018) The changes that society has undergone have been many and with so many different philosophers the influence on process philosophy was ever evolving. This facet of process philosophy has had an enormous effect on American society and its upbringing. We have
