1. Describe four areas of self-esteem discussed in the text and provide an example of each.
Four areas of self-esteem discussed in the text are social, academic, physical, and moral self-esteem.
Social self-esteem is wanting to be accepted or liked by their peers by acting, talking, or looking a certain way thats considered cool or popular.
Academic self- esteem is wanting to get good grades and perform well in school by working very hard to get the best grades.
Physcial self-esteem is wanting to be athletically accomplished by winning all the time, or pushing themselves to do the very best.
Moral self-esteem is accepting yourself and helping others to accept you.

Self- esteem is used to describe a person's overall sense of self- worth or personal value.
7. Discuss how a parent can help their child develop good social self-esteem.
A parent can help their child devople good social self- esteem by engaging their kids in extracurrilcar activites and getting their kids involved with other kids. The parents should also have good social self-esteem to help their kids.

A parent can help their child develope academic self- esteem by helping their child if their child is stuggling in school by personally tutoring them, or getting their kid to study more.

Someone I know who has high self- esteem is one of my friends. She is a very sweet and loving girl who totally has self- esteem. She used to be a very bad public speaker and since then has believed in herself and encourgared herself to improve and to practice. She studies hard and always makes time for her school and tries hard to get good grades. Physcially she wears little makeup and is very confident even if she has acne. She has taught herself to love yourself and to be happy the way you

Self-Esteem can be harmful and make people very self centered, but others lack confidence and need a boost of self-esteem. Self-esteem is a very important factor in various reasons that happens in people’s daily life. With no type of thought people don’t think or take self-esteem with importance without realizing that self-esteem is a huge thing that us humans depend for our daily activities. Some shifts that have happened toward self- esteem over the past few decades were the fact that many people don’t really get an effect of having a boost of self-esteem in order for them to reach success. Therefore, self-esteem is not important in the success of individuals but it is important in their well being and psychological health.
The concept of self esteem is widespread in life. When it comes to academics and extracurricular actives people associate high self esteem is necessary for success. Society makes promoting self esteem an important goal. With that in mind, it is surprising that only recently scientific literature began providing insight into the nature of development of self esteem.
Three characteristics that contribute to high self-esteem are an ambitious attitude, are optimistic about life and choose friends and partners who also have high self-esteem and demand and earn respect from the people in their lives .Three characteristics that contribute to low self-esteem are unable to achieve goals, are pessimistic about life, and form unhealthy, destructive relationships with other people.
Self esteem is defined as how we feel about ourselves.The way that one feels about them self can be positive resulting in high self esteem, or negative resulting in low self esteem. Self esteem evolves throughout a person's life based on their experiences and relationships. The way that one is treated by those closest to them can be a huge factor in determining their level of self esteem. Abuse, excessive criticism, neglect, and lack of support or love can all contribute to a person having low self esteem. Body image, a person's perception of his or her physical appearance, is another factor in self esteem. Those who feel unsatisfied with their physical appearance tend to have low self esteem.
A person with a strong sense of self esteem will have a more positive outlook on life and will be strong enough to handle difficult situations through life.
The National Association for Self- Esteem interpret self-esteem as an individual meeting life challenges and being worthy of happiness (NASE, 2016). Self-esteem is defined as an individual’s perspective of their confidence over their skills and self-worth. Self-esteem is learned and embedded within certain childhood experiences such as suffering from verbal or physical abuse or never receiving positive reinforcement (GoodTherapy, 2016). In adulthood, the best of self-esteem could be shattered with a losing a job, health trouble, or financial trouble all that indicate a part of their life that they have failed at. Low self-worth is seen in people who suffer from depression and eating disorders. Although exaggerated levels of self-importance are also dangerous and can lead to narcissistic and defensive tendencies (Baumeister, Campbell, Krueger & Vohs, 2003). There needs to be a balance between the low and high self-esteems.

In most cases, children with low self-esteem feel that the important adults and peers in their lives do not accept them, do not care about them very much, and would not go out of their way to ensure their safety and well-being. Negative self-esteem is related to low self-confidence, insecurity, underachievement, anxiety, depression, acting-out behavior, sleep problems and being a loner (Yarnell, 1999).
How important is good self-esteem in the development of children: extremely important!! Having good self-esteem is a key component in the healthy development of children and adolescents (Nuttall, 1991). A person with high self-esteem feels like they can accomplish anything they set their minds to, whereas a person with low self-esteem feels that they are unimportant and nothing they do will make a difference (Nuttall, 1991). People’s self-esteem either high or low is shaped by their life experiences. I believe a person’s self-esteem begins to take shape at an early age, with their parents being a major influence. Kind, positive, knowledgeable and caring parents help children create a positive self-image. Parents who do not feel good about themselves or others, sometimes take it out on their childern by belittling them or discouraging them. This leads the child down a path of self-doubt and eventually given the right circumstances a lower self-esteem.
