In reading “A Good Man Is Hard to Find,” Flannery O`Connor leaves metaphors and imagery to allude readers towards the fatal encounter with a criminal labeled The Misfit. Upon reading the short story for the first time one may be disappointed by the stories ending. By reading reviews on the story it is said that one has to read the story a couple of times to clearly understand “O`Connor’s” technique of foreshadowing. In trying to complete this assignment it was important to find out what foreshadowing meant. It is noted that foreshadowing is a literary device by which an author uses hints to suggest certain plot developments that will occur later on in the story. “O’Connor” uses foreshadowing throughout the story by using metaphors, symbols and imagery. …show more content…
