9/11 One of the most known and worst events occurred on September 11, 2001. Terror attacks occurred in the United States of America in the cities of Washington D.C. and New York City. An Al-Qaeda terrorist group organized this attack by sending terrorists on four different airplanes to crash into the World Trade Center in New York City, and the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Two planes crashed into the World Trade Center, while another one was targeted for the Pentagon. A resident near the crash served in Vietnam and he said knew that was the sound of a missile he heard, so it is likely the plane could have got shot down (What Really Happened). The terror attacks on 9/11 did not also affect families and the community, but it also affected the economy. Osama Bin-Laden wanted to destroy the center of America, which also deals with the economy. The United States is still recovering from the economic impact the terrorists had on the economy. The attacks made the Dow drop over 600 points, led a recession, and led to one of the largest government spending in history (US Economy). During the recession the stock market closed for four days and it has not done this since the Great Depression. The American Airlines and United Airlines took a large hit on the stock market, and also customers questioned flying those airlines for a little while. The largest government spending occurred right after the attacks and was known as “War on Terror.” Since President Bush was in office to now, the War on Terror has cost the United States over 1.5 trillion dollars. When the terrorist attacks occurred on 9/11 it did more than just affect the comfort level of American citizens. It had an all around impact on how this country will be run for years to come. The one economic impact that I will concentrate on is that the attacks, arguably, but directly effected the U.S. GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and how the national budget will be handled from that day forward.

While Millions watched very frightened because of the events in New York, American Airlines Flight 77 went around downtown Washington D.C, and slammed into the west of the Pentagon military headquarters at 9:45 am. Jet fuel from the Boeing 757 caused a devastating flame that led to a collapse of the whole building. The first plane to be hijacked that morning was American airlines flight 11. This passenger plane was crashed into the north tower of the world trade center. Having heard about the acts of terrorism that had just taken place in New York and Washington, D.C., a group of passengers drove their plane, Flight 93, into a Pennsylvania field killing everyone on board but possibly saving hundreds of other lives in the process. The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 a.m. 102 minutes after being struck (History.com Staff). On September 11, 2001, almost twelve hundred people were wounded or killed by “coordinated suicide attempts” by Al Qaeda terrorists. In result to the four airplanes being hijacked and used for premediated reasons, the United States government instituted new regulations for entering the country and airport security as well as expounded on systems already in place.
