Any appeal by a student is to be made first to the instructor.A written report of the incident by the instructor or department chair will be sent to the dean of the College or school, who will keep a written record of the complaint when it is filed, and will forward a copy of the complaint to the appropriate associate dean’s office at the time. Please don’t assume that I can’t catch cheating online there is a program monitoring all the work you do online for my course and it will notify me if you copied and pasted any text from the textbook, web, or another students work. If discussion posts and assignments are too similar to other students’ or to your text this may constitute cheating. If you engage in academic dishonesty, you will receive an ‘F’ on the assignment/quiz/discussion post. If you have a repeat infraction you will receive an ‘F’ for the entire course.
Learning what constitutes academic honesty is too important to leave to chance. Moreover, the foundations for such honesty are less and less likely to be brought into the academy by habits inculcated by the culture at large. Many distinguished institutions underscore the importance of academic honesty through an honor system, requiring each student to pledge that work submitted for a given assignment has been done without illegitimate assistance or unauthorized appropriation.
I am writing to appeal my academic dismissal from Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy, Palm Beach Atlantic University. I was very surprised and distressed to receive an email from the dean of academics Dr. Dana Brown on Tuesday (12/13/2016) this week informing me of my dismissal which was based on the about the Student Success Committee’s decision. Based on one’s personal principles and beliefs determines if they would cheat or not cheat. Allowing or accepting unapproved fraternization on projects is plagiarism or cheating. The school’s guideline on academic dishonesty is considered found in the school’s student handbook. Professors are responsible for the structure of the classroom guidelines and grading fairly.

You could not cram all of this information in less than an hour, so you came up with a plan to cheat. At Mississippi State University, about 26.4 percent of freshmen and about 28.1 percent of seniors had reported cases of breaking the honor code. – (Honor Code Presentation: Blaire Wilson). Cheating at the college level can cause way more severe penalties than k-12 penalties. Academic Misconduct is any action or attempted action that may result in an unfair academic advantage.
This is in regards to getting my academic dismissal. I am aware of my dismissal from the program due to failure of two courses in level 2. I take full responsibility of the failure from those two courses. I am writing this appeal letter to explain the cause and to ask you to please consider my reinstatement back into the nursing program for the fall of 2017. Level two in the nursing program is no joke.

One could argue that with a lot of resources which encourage cheating, professors should be expecting students to cheat and therefore they should not report the student. However, the professors may argue that dishonesty is not acceptable in any class whether it is administered online or in class and therefore any form of dishonesty detected should be dealt with accordingly. By allowing dishonesty, the students may not learn anything from the class and will continue to submit work that does not belong to them which in actual fact means they are not being graded on what they know but on what someone else knows.

Many schools use the “A-B-C-D-E model (Kiehl, 2006, p. 201), the intent of which is to make the concepts of decision-making models practical, rather than abstract” (Kiehl, 2006, p. 200).“The letters A-B-C-D-E serve as a mnemonic in which A = assessment, B = benefit, C = consequences and consultation, D = duty, and E = education” (Kiehl, 2006, p. 201). Using this model makes it easier ethically to hand down a punishment to a student (Kiehl, 2006, p. 200). In the academic learning environment today, students are surrounded with ideas and thoughts of others. These works can be accessed through written material, electronically, heard in lectures and sermons, or even in class discussions. Without giving proper credit to the author of the original work plagiarism is the outcome (Lowe, 2003). Plagiarism can be intentional or unintentional. In an academic environment students are faced withmany ways to practice intentional plagiarism such as downloading a paper from the internet, paraphrasing without using the proper citations, copying papers from students who may have already completed a course and various other ways.
