Academic success could never be fully measured by degrees alone, but it can include a person’s well-being as well as their mind and certain characteristics about a person that make them unique. This success can be achieved in different ways by these different people with different strengths, but there is the same ultimate goal in sight of each and every student enrolled in college at some point. However, this goal of being successful in not only school but in life, can sometimes turn out to be the opposite of how we plan. Of course, a student can achieve success by earning degrees and still fail in life. Academic success can also be a huge constituent to a students vocational calling in college as young students make a transition into adulthood. …show more content…
for me, these talents are represented through my top five strengths that were given to me from a test I took. Two of my signature strengths that I think best fit me and are the ones that will help me be successful are Competition and Analytical. Competition by definition is when someone measures their progress against the performance of others, they also strive to win first place and revel in contests. Growing up playing competitive sports at a young age is what I believe led me to be in the competitor I am now. I think my Competition strength not only best describes me but, it may also be my best feature that I can tie into to my daily life to reach success and the goals I have set forth. Being competitive got me where I am today. I’ve be running for nearly my whole life, this year makes 11 years that I have been running track and cross country and it has truly paid off for me in the biggest ways. I think that having the competitive nature will always help down the line in life. When having the competitive nature my talent is valuable because it will influence and even push people in a group to achieve more than others. I will also bring energy to a group and will be capable of energizing others to move to higher levels of excellence. Also, being competitive also gives me capability of adaptation go different obstacles of life. It often applies to the class room such as seeking out highly competitive people and study with them. You will know that you will push each other to learn more, faster. Because of hardships and challenges I have faced during my running career I feel as if I will be prepared well enough for anything coming fast at a me in life, which will also help me achieve success in the
College is one way ticket that can lead to your success and your future. Unfortunately, few individuals get to experience this unique opportunity and become successful students. Success is what every individual wants to achieve in their life to get where they want to be in life. To be successful you must take some decisions, you must know what you want to accomplish and create a strategic plan to guide you in life. I interview a couple of students that graduated from college and how they manage to earn their degree.
“I went to college because it was what I thought I was supposed to do”, is something that is often heard from students when they are asked why they went to college. Society has predefined a direction in life for human beings that is believed to be the mantra for success. A student typically goes from high school to a college and further after college takes up a job. It hardly comes as a surprise as to why students fail to attach a reason to pursue a college education, as every student is expected to go to college and follow the same direction to be successful in life. The choice of what to do after school is deemed as a matter of employability and the accepted notion states that college is missing piece to the jigsaw that will turn the lives around for people whereas failure to achieve a college education will leave the person incapable of flourishing in the outside world. However, the biggest mistake in this system lies at the very beginning- designing the same path for every student. Every student is different from the others and every student has different goals and ambitions. Whereas one student wants to become a chemical engineer, another has a strong passion for football. So, not all students should be encouraged to pursue a college education, as universities offer a one-size-fits-all education model geared only toward certain careers, failing to help students with interests outside typical academic fields to prosper in life.
There are so many elements that go into academic excellence in graduate school. However, a person can overcome any obstacle that hinders them from giving it their all by merely setting goals and following them. As for myself, the best possible way that I could manage my life stressors as well as my time management is to apply what I already know. If I could keep my mind focused through setting academic goals for success and sticking to them with skills that I have developed for myself in the past I could easily become not only a great writer, but also
As a student that has achieved a high-level of academic success while staying active in extra-curricular activities and working a job I have faced a daily challenge of balancing the workload. From a social perspective, I feel it is important to be active in a variety of extra-curricular activities; however, from an academic perspective it is critical to put in the time necessary to maintain good grades. Along with that, from a financial perspective it is important for me to earn an income to save for my college expense. It has not always been easy, and through the last few years I have learned some valuable life skills from this challenge.

The dictionary may have a set definition for the word “success”, but every individual has his or her own interpretation of what may make something or someone successful. Money, status, and power all initially come to mind, but success is not entirely about an end result of monetary rewards. At High Point University, students are taught to value the motivation and determination behind being successful, and how being successful must also be satisfying. There must be a passion and drive behind all that a person chooses to be and accomplish. Furthermore, the end result must be a life of significance. The opportunities I have been presented with as a first-year student are meant to guide me to achieve just that, and I intend on taking full-advantage of all this campus has to offer.
example, to attain a specific standard of proficiency, usually within a specified time limit. As

Growing up in a developing nation might be a good thing for someone with ambition - is a fact I realized at the age of 16 as soon as I had failed in 6 subjects at school. Ever since that great fall, I have come to believe in the power a challenging life. I believe in the transformational energy that lies within us all. To me, the true recipe of success consists of work, gut, and willpower. Currently, I am majoring in Marketing at School of Business and Economics, North South University, where my academic performance is smooth. However, I find the greatest confidence in my ability to convert learning into execution.

In life we are forced to go through things and overcome obstacles. My life hasn't been the easiest, I've always wanted to succeed in life and have a great future. My mom has always told me try my hardest no matter what life throws at you, and I really took that to heart. I always thought that if I didn't have wonderful grades, I was automatically stupid. Ive struggled a lot in my academics but overcame those struggles and became content with them eventually.
There are several qualities to have to be successful in college. These qualities can range from attending class to going above and beyond what’s expected. Success comes from the journey taken or the path chosen. Success also comes from being prepared. As a student, I must step up to the challenge and find the path to success along the way. Several ways I define success is to uphold academic integrity, have the ability to prioritize, and to motivate myself to stay on top of what needs to be accomplished.
Academic success can be measured on how many academic achievements the students have. In New Zealand, there is the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA). It is a qualification for secondary students starting from level 1 up to level 3. Every secondary student starting from year eleven to year thirteen need to take internal and external assessments every year to gain credits so that they can get enough credits to go to their tertiary studies. Furthermore, NCEA assessments have four grading criteria, these are not achieved, achieved, merit, and excellence. Student’s academic success in New Zealand’s secondary education can be measured on how many endorsements or excellence credits you have.("How NCEA Works,”n.d.) In short, if you have a lot of subject endorsements and excellence credits, you can get an academic scholarship that will support you for your tertiary education. Since those intelligent students are the only one who gets the achievements, there are some students that do not have the success of getting it because of the factors that affect their learning. Furthermore, these factors can be critical to the academic success of each student. As a result, they will not have the confidence to participate in class. There are three main factors that affect their academic success and they are the socioeconomic status, gender gap, and lack of academic achievements.
It must also be noted that, though crucial, Excellent academic performance is not the only thing that guarantees the success of an individual. Any individual may be failing academically but due to other qualities and characteristics he possesses, such as the ability to express himself / herself, passion for the chosen field and good judgement, he / she may be able to achieve the life goals he / she have set for himself. This is also why other factors, apart from academic excellence, need to be looked at.
