It was January 13th, 1999, when Hae Min Lee, a senior at Woodlawn High School, disappeared after school, and was later found, February 9th, 1999, dead and buried in Leakin Park. There is no solid evidence as to who did it, but the finger is pointed at another senior at Woodlawn High School, Adnan Syed. Her former boyfriend. There are a lot of suspects, but none seem to have as much evidence against them, as Adnan does. On the other hand Adnan just has so many unlucky coincidences against his case. This case has gained so much attention by loads and loads of people, and the question everyone’s asking is, is he guilty, not guilty, or innocent? There wasn’t a lot, but I suppose enough evidence, so say that Adnan did it, and put him away for 16 years, and counting until this day. It was Jay Wilds, Adnan’s acquaintance, that came forward and accused Adnan Syed of doing this crime. He gave all the information to police officials. He confessed that Adnan, strangled Hae, put her in the trunk of her own car, and drove to Best Buy to met him (Jay), and drove off to Leakin Park to bury Hae. He also confessed that he did indeed help Adnan bury Hae’s body. What people should know, is that Jay lies, and throughout this whole investigation, Jay’s story is always shifting. Friends, and acquaintances would have never thought Adnan would do this. Most people knew him as a super cool, helpful, polite, and funny guy. Everyone was surprised at the fact that he could have done this. Even the guards and inmates at his jail really like him. He doesn’t have a problem with anyone in the jail, because he’s well liked. There is a lot of evidence to say that Adnan did it, but there is also a lot of evidence to say that Adnan didn’t do it. So in the end, I can definitely say that Adnan is not guilty of this crime, but is being
The main reason why Adnan was in the center of this investigation was because his best friend, Jay,
The world we live in today is not the same as it was in 1999 when a high school teenage girl disappeared on January 13th, 1999 in Baltimore County. Hae was supposed to pick up her little cousin from kindergarten on the day she went missing but never showed up. This raised suspicion because she was known to be very responsible. Hae-Min Lee’s body was found six weeks later on February 9th in a park not too far from Woodlawn High School where she attended. Hae's ex-boyfriend Adnan Syed became the prime suspect in her murder and has been in prison ever since. Sarah Koenig re-investigates the trial upon Adnan's friend's request Rabia who strongly believes Adnan is innocent. The State does not have enough evidence to prove Adnan was guilty because
Two former classmates of Hae’s saw Syed and Hae talking about a ride home from school, one of thoses girls named Becky said she saw Syed after school the day of Hae's disappearance. Syed’s friends never recalled seeing him but when they were interviewed they all said positive feedback on how he could never be guilty, he could never kill. Syed’s phone records which said he called someone named Jenn who ended up being a weed dealer named Jay. Jay said that on the morning of the 13th, which was Stefanie his girlfriend's birthday Jay was going to take the car out to buy Stefanie something nice so Jay got a call from Syed saying, “Hae is dead, met me at Best buy.” So when Jay met him at Best Buy Syed told Jay that he needed to be seen at school for track practice, then they took Hae’s body to Leakin Park and buried her there. So by 2:36 pm Hae was dead. Jay was interviewed four times and over the course of the four times some of the facts didn't add up to the timeline the police had set
Not only because he is a good guy but also there were so many holes in his case that doesn't make sense. Adnan is not a trained killer even if he did kill Hae he would have left something that tries him to the body like DNA. The only thing that the state has to convict Adnan is Jay. Jay and other people involved in this case are way better suspects in his case than Adnan. Gutierrez tried to point out other people but was unsuccessful. If Adnan is getting another trial and hopefully it should be more focused how Adnan couldn't commit the crime. They also should look into Jay, Ronald, and Mr. S because something just isn’t
The case of Hae Min Lee was originally only prominent within Baltimore County of Maryland. It has the trappings of a typical high school murder; a teen is angry at their ex-boyfriend/girlfriend for breaking up with them and as a result, would murder them. However, the case has gained international attention largely due to the investigations from Serial, which revealed an abnormal number of inconsistencies within the case against Adnan Syed. Eventually, this attention culminated into the granting of a new trial for Adnan. Adnan is most likely guilty because of circumstantial evidence that demonstrate Adnan’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. After all, the use of circumstantial evidence is valid if a reasonable argument can be created. Although,
The lack of evidence makes Adnan innocent because it cannot prove anything. The state, in attempt to put Adnan in prison, cannot present any physical evidence in the case because there isn't any. In the first podcast, “The Alibi”, the listeners learn that this is a case with absolutely no
Adnan does deserve a retrial; a retrial would allow all of the evidence to be brought up again, and a new trial would occur. The investigation would be looked at again, the witnesses, and community members would be contacted again. This retrial would be a fresh start. However, the chances of Adnan getting a retrial are slim. The Fifth Amendment does protect people from double jeopardy. Double jeopardy is being tried for the same case twice; the amendment states that there will not be another trial for the same case, unless new evidence has come up. In Adnan’s case, there hasn’t been any new evidence, and too much time has passed that the old evidence is gone, the witnesses’ memory of the time period are no longer reliable, Adnan has lost touch
In the podcast Serial you will be convinced that Adnan is the suspect who killed Hae. The relationship between the couple turned bad once they broke up and Adnan appears to be the prime suspect. While there are other stories that might change your mind and hint that someone else committed the murder, there is proof that Adnan did it because he's constantly changing his alibi, he’s lying about certain incidents that happened, and he's pretending the entire situation never even happened. In 1999, Hae Lee was killed by an unknown killer who might be Adnan Syed. But he says that he's innocent and can't remember what went on exactly that day. But most people do know what went on and all of the facts point to him.
The case of Adnan Syed became very popular. There are many people know about this case. The trial convicted that Adnan had killed his ex-girlfriend. Many of Adnan’s friends believe that Adnan is not guilty. Also, many people who read the case about Adnan, even they do not personally know him see he is not guilty. Other people see he may involve in the case, so he is guilty. There are many doubts about the court's decision to imprison Adnan lifetime and these things that make this mystery trial. Adnan may be not guilty if the jury, the prosecutor, and the detective give more importance about the case and focused deeply to take a right decision. There are many questions surrounded this mystery trial.
I personally believe that there is a third person that committed this murder. I don't think there is enough evidence to convict adnan. I also don't believe jay is telling the truth. I think that jay worked for somebody that killed Hae. I think there was an ulterior motive for this killing, somebody wanted to convict adnan. I think jay plotted all of this out
First Question) I believe that Adnan is innocent and that there is not enough evidence that could convict him of premeditated murder. Although Adnan isn't able to remember what he did the day Hae was killed, Jay’s story didn't add up. his story not only stated that Hae was murdered by Adnan, but also that Hae’s body was buried at Leakin Park. On the day of the murder, Jay had left Jenn’s house at 3.40pm with Adnan's car. She was stashed in his trunk before the burial. At the same time, he had Adnan’s phone with him. As investigators interviewed Jay, the more his story started to change. The inconsistencies usually involved the time certain things took place. For example, the time they buried Hae wasn't consistent and neither was the time they
In 1999 Adnan Syed was 17 years old and senior in high school, on January 13th 1999 Hae Min Lee, a girl that he had been close with, disappeared and 6 weeks later found dead; Adnan syed was charged with her murder and has been in prison ever since then. Adnan is a muslim-american who was on the track team had good grades and was homecoming prince who was dating Hae Min Lee off and on in high school. Hae and Adnan both had strict parents that don't believe in dating forcing them both to keep many secret from their families. When they broke up and Hae started dating a new guy some people say Adnan went crazy and others say he was hurt but he got over it. So when Hae went missing right after school wednesday some people thought it could've been him who killed her. The problem with Adnan's story is he doesn't remember that day, everyone was questions 6 weeks after the day Hae went missing he says he had track practice but they don't take attendance there so no proof, he said he could of been in the library but no one saw him, he also said the his friend Jay had his car and his cell phone when the murder was said to be happening. All together he had no alibi which makes him a suspect but also making jay a suspect. On February 28 1999 Adnan Syed was arrested and charged with first degree murder.
Don’t you feel everyone should receive a fair trial when being accused of a crime? Well, 19 years ago, on January 13, 1999, a boy at Woodland High School in Baltimore named Adnan was accused of manual strangling of a girl named Hae Min Lee. He supposedly told Jay, a buddy of his, that he was going to kill her. After Hae’s missing body was recovered, Jay went to the police and the state used his testimony against Adnan. Recently, a serial podcast was developed by Sarah Koenig, a detective who goes deeper in the case and believes Adnan may be innocent. I think Adnan is innocent because Jay’s story kept altering details and sounds untrustworthy, Adnan had very little time to kill Hae, and because Adnan was at the library during the same time
Saying someone is guilty without enough evidence is so absurd. There was once a guy who is proclaimed a guilty by the court without enough evidence or proof. His name is Adnan Syed the fact that the murder case of Hae Min Lee has full of holes and facts don't match up, he was still charged of guilty. There is more evidence that makes sense proving he is innocent than guilty. One big piece of evidence that proves Adnan is innocent is Jay’s story of how events went that day. The woman who narrated the podcast, Sarah Koenig, and one of her fellow producers reenacted the events of that day, except for the murder, according to Jay’s story. They realized that the first part of the day could have happened, such as going to the mall and looking for
Adnan syed is innocent as Before he was arrested they should've had more sufficient evidence against him as some of it just doesn't add up or cannot necessarily be pinned to him . So he shouldn't have been declared guilty until the following evidence were investigated, which includes jay who could've been the murder , adnan's alibi , the cell phone towers which was already said to be not accurate and also find more reliable witnesses. Here is why adnan is innocent...
