Nowadays, the technology behind the Bitcoin crypto currency invented by Satoshi Nakamoto is being revealed and implemented to various industries. Among them is also the pharmaceutical industry (Das, 2017). We can say that its invention is recently gaining the greater importance than ever before. As I already mentioned in the Introduction, blockchain does not need any central control. It is a shared ledger using for recording the transactions between all parties in a business network. Blockchain technology has many benefits:  Decentralised – its core value is that it enables a database to be directly shared without a central party  Access – it is an open network to which everyone can add information, data  Trust – all data transferred by the parties are kept secure  Anonymity – companies can exchange data anonymously (bitcoin holders usually do not know each other)  Real time – data can be verified and recorded to the chain in real time; timely data However, every coin has two sides and blockchain technology is not an exception. Therefore, let me point out the main disadvantages:  Blockchain requires a lot of energy  It requires high initials costs  It is quite difficult to understand When implementing blockchain technology into the pharmaceutical supply chain, many current challenges could disappear.
