ABSTRACT The Philippines is one of the most westernized countries in Asia, and western influence was easily accepted and adopted by Filipinos. This can be seen in the Philippine culture until today. Westernization can have different advantages and disadvantages in terms of food, music and education in the Philippines. One of the disadvantages includes the decrease of national sentiment in each Filipino, especially the teens today, while one of the advantages is that teens still follow the Filipinos' way of greeting which is to bless and say “po” and “opo” when talking to elders. This study aims to raise awareness of the different effects of being a westernized country.

It aims to help others see and analyze the effects of western culture in the Philippines. This study also discusses how the young adults, specifically the students of the College of Liberal Arts in De La Salle University-Manila are exposed to the western culture. Aside from that, the researchers would want to know the different advantages and disadvantages of Westernization in terms of food, music and education. This may also help other researchers who will be studying about this topic to add to their ideas.
The researchers made use of survey forms, answered by the College of Liberal Arts students of De La Salle University-Manila. The researchers personally approached students one by one. The students were asked to spare two minutes of their time to answer the survey. The respondents waited for the students to finish answering to assure the accomplishment of the surveys and for any clarifications. This was done only for a week.
Below are the results of the survey forms, which conclude the form of western exposure that College of Liberal Arts students have and the advantages and disadvantages of being a westernized country in terms of food, music and
This study, from what is provided, closely resembles descriptive research method. Though the basic purpose of this method is to observe and record behavior nothing was manipulated and was conducted like survey. The purpose of the survey is to obtain self-reported attitudes of a group ( Myers 15). The freshman and his roommate had the right idea of conducting this survey. They also put effort towards this survey to come to their conclusion.
The method of inquiry that I have taken for this assignment is both primary and secondary research. I conducted a survey that I distributed among some of the school population on survey

Over the last month I have had the opportunity to spend time with some friends of our family. The culture in which I had the privilege was the Philippine Culture in Hercules, California, where the entire town is predominantly Filipino. The culture is rich in heritage and tradition as will be expressed throughout the remainder of this essay.
This survey will be attached to the student email using a link to the online survey engine SurveyMonkey. After clicking on the link, the consent for participating in the survey will be shown. Once the survey is accepted, the participant will give full access to the results anonymously through SurveyMonkey. The survey will be set up so that the participant can only take the survey one time. The survey will be available online for two weeks. The survey consists of 26 questions and will take between five to ten minutes to
The students were mailed the survey, a cover letter a consent form. They were given 9 days to do the survey. The students that did not complete the survey were contacted and they did the survey on the telephone. 143 completed the mail survey and 43 completed the telephone survey. The total usable rate was 92%.
Thus, Mark's forte is the Filipino perspective, as he spent the majority of the time in East Asia there, and became embedded to the culture with his marriage. Throughout his interview he discusses a very wide range of topics, however, the Macros dictatorship in the Philippines, the lack of educational opportunities beyond fifth grade, the prior lack of any modern conveniences, and how there is a global movement of Westernization are discussed as following.
Western Civilization, as it is known today, is a coalescence of various cultures, ideologies, and practices that have been preserved over centuries of human life. Although a countless number of societies have influenced Western Civilization, Hebrew-Christian civilizations and Greco-Roman civilizations have been the two most influential. Both of these civilizations and their traditions have left equally deep and long-lasting marks on Western Civilization that are still seen in today’s society. While Hebrew-Christian religious traditions are at the core foundation of the largest religions of the western world, Greco-Roman political and social traditions are, on the other hand, seen in the fundamentals of Western societal systems and ideologies. In addition, both Hebrew-Christian traditions and Greco-Roman traditions are prominent in western political and governmental structures. Without the influence of Hebrew-Christian or Greco-Roman traditions, Western Civilization would not be what it is today.
Participants: A total of 168 students participated in the survey. The distribution of gender among the Participants were 62.5 %(105) = Female, 36.9% (62) = Male, and .6% (1) = Other. The distribution of year in school was 2.4% (4) = Freshmen, 17.9% (30) = Sophomore, Junior = 50.6% (85) = Junior, and 26.2% (44) = Senior. Convenient sampling was used in this survey as it was easier to get participants based off attending the same university. The survey was administered online, by sending a link to take the survey to the participants. Each student within the class was in charge of getting between 7-10 participants for the survey.
The method by which data was collected in this study was through a survey. Twelve schools
Do you believe that because your first socialization with family taught you to be part of the “elite” group that you had difficulties relating to other people at times? I would image that being part of a high ranking military family there were certain expectations and code of conduct you had to follow by. Additionally, has moving to the United States had an effect on you culturally? Were there any adjustments due to institutional or religious differences from Ukraine to the United States? In reading your discussion, it appears that working within our institutions was somewhat of a negative experience for you. However, I found it refreshing that when you felt like a target that you stood your ground. Finally, do you believe that being part
The strengths of this study was it had a fairly large sample size of 1,904 participants. The study used the Tailored Design Method to obtain the highest response rate possible. The survey package Clark-Reyna and her team of researchers sent out consisted of a consent form, both English and Spanish version of the survey, a return envelope, along with a two dollar
This research makes use of both the primary and secondary data. The primary data for this research is collected with the help of surveys. This particular research makes use of closed ended questions in order to collect primary data. According to Loewy and Guffey (2009), secondary data is the one which is already available and it is accessed through the external materials. The data analysis and interpretation process identifies solution to the research problem. This study makes use of the statistical technique independent sample t test, F test for testing equality of variances and one way ANOVA to test the proposed hypothesis. In this research, descriptive research design makes use of the independent sample t test. Ethics in this study is strictly followed by the researcher and also data is maintained in
There are some limitation on this research. First, the sample size of the survey is 100 students only, and it is not enough to represent the all the students(2500) from BYUH, so we can enlarge the sample size to 250 students which is
Data to be collected. For this survey the graduate students at the Central Michigan University will be used. The survey population includes both domestic and international graduate students. An e-news letter containing the cover letter and short invitation to participate in the survey is sent to all the graduate students of the University. The e- newsletter has a survey link attached where the students can gain access and participate. The survey will remain until sufficient sample size that represent the population is reached. The importance of the survey questions is explained in the table below:
