American Sniper is a biographical war drama film directed by Clint Eastwood about the life of Chris Kyle. From a young age, Kyle was taught that as a sheepdog, it was his duty and honor to protect the sheep from the wolves—a biblical reference to David’s account of when he defended his flock of sheep against fierce animals in 1 Samuel 17:34-36 (Cummings and Cummings). Upon being deeply moved after seeing the news coverage of the U.S. Embassy bombings in 1998, Kyle left his life as a rodeo cowboy and enlisted in the United States Navy. After breezing through training, Kyle decided to further his quest for self-actualization and become a Navy SEAL sniper. Little did he know that turmoil and strife that would emanate in Iraq. After contemplating on whether or not to kill a mother and her son, Kyle replaced both their lives with a bullet. Unbeknownst to his comrades, these would be the first two confirmed kills of one hundred and sixty. Yet, adjusting back to life stateside was a war in and of itself. Ultimately, however, Kyle has been best remembered for seemingly arising as a present day Davidic symbol by becoming the most successful sniper in U.S. history (IMDB). Yet, through further examination of the lives of both Kyle and David, the methods of war both used, and the approach each took to conducting himself, it is apparent that Kyle failed to live up the claims of a present-day Davidic symbol. However, before any claims are made and further research is conducted, it is
The “wolves, sheep, and sheepdog” analogy in the American Sniper scene is a good expression of the warrior ethos because it closely resembles the youth warrior archetype and contains a few principles of the Just War Doctrine as well as gives an implication on what a warrior might value and protect when he finds himself in any kind of conflict in his life. However, the warrior ethos can also differ throughout different cultures in the world, so whether or not this analogy is a good expression entirely depends on each individual and how they would perceive the warrior ethos.
U.S. Navy SEAL ,Chris Kyle was just the average die hard Texan. He aspired to become a cowboy, but it wasn’t working out in his favor. After seeing the horrors of terrorism on 9/11 he was ready to fight for his country and enlisted into the military. He goes on to fight in four tours and becomes the deadliest sniper in American history. After each tour, he felt that he had to go back. He had two goals that he couldn’t give up on; protecting his team and taking out the deadliest enemy sniper, Mustafa. Chris would not stop until he achieved his goals, when he finally did, he faced a new battle. He struggled with normal daily life, but even then he persevered and found a new passion to aid him. Throughout this film, Clint Eastwood portrays the theme of perseverance through the use of setting, camera angles, and the main character Chris Kyle.
American Sniper starts out in Nasiriya, Iraq in 2003 as Kyle killed his first enemy with a sniper rifle; he shot a woman fifty yards away to prevent her from ambushing Marine soldiers with a grenade. Kyle’s platoon chief ordered, “Take a shot.” Hesitantly, Kyle shot and killed the woman because of her unthoughtfulness for not only the soldiers, but her own people around her. This is just one example of Kyle’s quick action to shoot and kill the enemy. Chris Kyle’s love for his country and pride in serving the Navy is a characteristic that many readers find to be praiseworthy.
In the summer of 1776, the colonies were forever changed with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It made war with the British Empire official, pulling other colonies that had not begun to fight into the battle. The war brought much change for everyone associated with the colonies, leaving no one unaffected. The movie The Patriot, directed by Roland Emmerich, tells the story of one family, the Martins, in South Carolina and their role in the American Revolution and how they were affected throughout it. The film portrays the American Revolution primarily from the bias of the Pro-Revolutionists, illustrating the horrors of living through the war, while giving a more simplistic view of certain aspects of life in the colonies during that time period.

I read Chris Kyle’s autobiography “American Sniper”. Kyle was a U.S. Navy SEAL, and served four deployments in Iraq. He grew up in central Texas, and for a while was in Rodeos, until he was injured and then he chose to go into the Navy. He was married to his wife Tara, and they had two children together, a boy and a girl. Some say he has the highest kill count of any American that has served, with the total somewhere around 255 confirmed kills. Kyle was shot and killed on a gun range on February 2nd, 2013.

When I was in high school I played football and baseball. After high school I went to Tarleton State University and studied agriculture there for two years; I later joined the Navy in 1999. I served for nearly 11 years before discharging on November 4, 2009. I served 4 tours in Iraq, and had 160 kills, which is the current record for the U.S. Navy. I was able to earn 2 silver and 5 bronze star awards. I later decided to write a book about my experience. My book was released in 2012 and was a bestselling novel. The book American sniper is about the best sniper that has ever lived until this day in United States history. Chris Kyle was a true American hero in my book. This book does not just talk about his Military career it is Autobiography about his whole life from the very beginning. Chris starts taking about the town he grew up in and talked about what he did as a kid. Chris was that good old boy that grew up in Texas. I think he had a lot of fun from what I read when he was a kid. The first chapter of the book he talks about wanting to become a bull rider. I love bull riding I want to do it someday I love to get to get my heart racing. I am sperised that he could do this and then be able to lay on the ground and not move for some times day to
Top Gun was a standout amongst the most well-known movies of now is the right time, and keeps on being an exemplary film. Even though “The film’s strength is its virtuosic and lengthy flying scenes and simulated dogfights shot from a variety of camera angles, but the rest is laughable dialogue, a contrived plot…” (Quart 152), I chose this film for its social importance today, as well as in light of the fact that numerous points examined in this class can be found in this film. Government oversight and sex are only a couple of the subjects exhibited in this film. What 's more, themes, such as patriotism and valor are transferred in this film, which made this film so famous amid this time. Top Gun, coordinated by Tony Scott, is an American
Hacksaw Ridge is a historical non-fiction film that was made in 2016 by film writer and director Mel Gibson. Andrew Garfield plays the protagonist, Desmond Doss. Many of the events portrayed in the film are extremely similar to the real life events that took place, along with some differences. The film displays different side of Doss. They show him as a child, growing up with an abusive alcoholic father. Also as a child, Doss hurts his brother and puts him in critical condition unintentionally. The viewer shortly comes to notice that the reason Desmond Doss does not believe violence is the answer because of the things he has seen in his childhood. Doss does not want to be the person that takes the live of another human being that has the same
American sniper is a film by Clint Eastwood it is an inspirational film, which shows the behind the scenes of war and shows how he acts during war and how he reacts to it afterwards we see Chris Kyle and during the war and he acts excited and brave how he can take a man 's life and not care for what he is doing. However, it is just an act he puts on to look tough in front of his fellow soldiers, and when he just says that he is doing his job and he isn’t fazed by the lives he has ended but in reality he is sinking into depression. When Chris Kyle’s wife makes him go to the counsellor to talk about his problems he only tells the counselor that he isn 't worried about the amount of lives he has taken, but more about the lives he could have saved by killing other Iraqis, this may be partially true but he is also
