American Sniper Book Report

American Sniper is a 2014 movie about Chris Kyle, a Navy Seal Sniper who served 4 tours of duty in Iraq, and credited with being the most lethal United States Sniper of all time. The movie follows Kyle’s life from the attacks of 9/11, the impetus for joining the military, through his 4 combat tours as a sniper in Iraq, and the years after his military service, including the event that led to his death in 2013. Much of the film shows Kyle’s combat experience, the actions he took, and consequently the turmoil that results from those actions. The movie was not only a commercial success, it was also a catalyst for debate on the morality of war, and how it affects those who fight wars. The first review I read was

Nothing can make a person feel more guilty/regret quite like war; American literature has often reflected the different point of views that comes with war. Published in 1990, after his experiences in Vietnam, the author, Tim O’Brien wrote “The Things They Carried,” a reminiscing, culpable collection of short stories that describe the Alpha company and their reality. Later, in 2012, after his tour of duty in Iraq, Chris Kyle published “American Sniper,” a patriotic, regretful memoir showcases pride in protecting others. While Tim O’Brien uses Point of View and Imagery to express how both sides of the war, has good people with lives. Chris Kyle uses synecdoche and metaphor to demonstrate that the enemy is just the enemy.

“I looked through the scope of the sniper rifle , scanning down the road of the tiny Iraqi town” (Kyle 1). The book American Sniper written by Chris Kyle overall is an action packed book full of surprises. American Sniper is about Chris Kyle and his journey becoming a SEAL and fighting in Iraq. His experience in Iraq was intense and is not a task for just any random person. The battles and war times Chris went through was life changing. Overall, Chris Kyle did a great job in writing this book and using excellent details to make the book an amazing read.

The book portrays a sniper’s life as a mixture of terror and mind numbing boredom. Chris Kyle has the most confirmed kills of any U.S. military sniper (more than 150), two silver stars, and at least one confirmed bounty on his head. The book never glorifies what Chris Kyle did for a living, neither is it an explanation. The book instead gives readers a sense of what it is like to be a sniper, which lets us speculate as to whether we would have what it takes to become one.

s tower received a message that a SEAL team that was sent in to clear an ISIS armory but the team was pinned down in the building. There was massive numbers and heavy artillery. The alarm went off and the speakers told every soldier to get ready for war. Every tank, humvee, helicopter, and jet were being filled with bullets, missiles, fuel, and soldiers. All of the approximately 500 thousand soldiers at the base were in a car, plane,or helicopter.

In my opinion the sniper is a round character. There are various examples of him being a complex and very humane character throughout the story. In the beginning it states that he has the face of a student and is therefore quite young but despite that he’s a sniper who has no doubt killed others before. He later kills two nationalists with no remorse but after he kills the enemy sniper, the adrenaline from the battle leaves his body and he immediately becomes regretful. He is sickened by the body of the man he shot and he begins to curse the war. This shows a complex personality because although he is fighting for what he believes in, he doesn’t like the means to achieve them and the death of others. The sniper then cried over his brother's dead body and took his dog tag.While this was happening the rest of the snipers allies came to the aid of him to help with his wound, not knowing he was crying, because of the death of his brother. They took the sniper back to their base and there his wound was treated. Later, since they won that battle they had a celebration. The sniper was still sad, because he killed his brother, but he still celebrated with the rest of the soldiers. No one notice that the sniper was sad except his best friend.

Going to the movies is a great way of spending quality time with your friends and family. People spend a great number of money on the movies. The film “American Sniper,” directed by Clint Eastwood is a tremendous movie and was released December 25, 2014. This film stars many talented actors such as, Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller. It tells a story about a United States Navy Seal on his first tour of duty in Iraq. The movie went on to break box office records it differs from the 2012 best seller. It is a story line for a Navy SEAL that has been named the american sniper. That is on a mission to kill a enemy that he describes as a savage. Chris Kyle the sniper has the most recorded kills as an american sniper. He was the best the Navy SEALs have ever had. The movie has mostly positive reviews it is a great movie.

In The Sniper, a short story by Liam O'Flaherty, we follow a Republican sniper in the midst of a civil war. Throughout the story, the sniper is facing off with another enemy sniper, who eventually shoots the man in the shoulder. With that hit, this gave the sniper a reason to defend himself and fight back. The man was only doing what he had to do to survive.

A Clint Eastwood special, American Sniper tells the story of Chris Kyle, a Navy SEAL who completed four tours in Iraq ranging from years; 1999-2009, in his autobiography he was the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history, with over 160 (additional 95 unconfirmed) kills officially confirmed by the Department of Defense, and given the name Devil of Ramadi by the enemy but not without a price, he had a six figure bounty on his head before he retired. This movie really depicts Kyle's upbringing as a kid and as a Navy SEAL, but the main message being portrayed is Kyle’s willingness to risk his life for others.
