I strongly believe that the creature made by Victor Frankenstein is indeed very human. I say this because he shows many human traits. Some of these traits are that he can feel complex emotion's and he has a higher intellect than most animals such as humans. In this essay I will also discuss multiply reasons some might use as evidence to support the claim that he is not human and why they are not sufficient to make the conclusion that the creature made by Frankenstein is not human.

George, the main character in the novel, uses expert power to help his friend Lennie. Expert power is someone who is using a high level of knowledge that others do not possess. In the novel, Lennie has a lack of intelligence. So because of that George uses his expert power to take care of Lennie and make the decisions for him. For example George once said, “Don’t ever speak to him. If he comes in here you move clear to the other side of the room” (Steinbeck 29). In this quote George was talking about how Lennie should stay away from Curley, because he believes that Curley will stir up some trouble for Lennie. This quote showed how George used his expert power to protect Lennie, because it showed how he gave Lennie good advice by using his power. George helped Lennie stay out of trouble by using his prior knowledge and helping him make the decision.

In Anthony Doerr’s All the Light We Cannot See, the character, Werner Pfennig, can be identified as a hero. Werner was an undersized boy with ears that stick out and hair that was “snowy, milky, [and] chalky (24)”. His image was the Nazi ideal; but his ideas were not. Werner questioned everything and was not appeased by simple solutions. Werner greatly valued the truth, even though he was incredibly impressionable at such a young age. Werner Pfennig can be identified as a hero due to his abnormal childhood as an orphan, his unwilling departure from home, and his bittersweet reward of absolution.

Knowledge plays an incredibly large part of Mary Shelly’s novel, Frankenstein. I think that Victor’s obsessive and unhealthy search for knowledge is the true cause of his suffering. Not only does he neglect his friends and family while working to create the monster he puts his own health in danger. “I had worked hard for nearly two years, for the sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body. For this I had deprived myself of rest and health.” In this quote we see that Victor stops at nothing to find if he would be successful with his creation. Victor has made this project such a main priority that once it is completed and the creature comes to life he does not know what to do. Since Victor has met his goals and done what he said he wanted to do he does not want to deal with the being he just created so this becomes a problem for him. We see that Victor was very troubled by this whole experience when he says, “You seek for knowledge and wisdom, as I once did; and I ardently hope that the gratification of your wishes may not be a serpent to sting you, as mine has been.”

What would you do if you were in a family crisis and given a 10,000 for your family member passing away? In the play Walter Younger goes through many different moral problems and has bad ego due to the money that has been given to the family. In this play during the late 1950s, there was a lot of racial problems, black skin color was discriminated and abused. Walter younger shows that he cares more about money rather than caring about his families care and well being. He rather open up a liquor store to get more money and keep his family living in the ran down apartment not thinking about all of the bad stuff that can possibly happen to his kin. Even though Lord Capulet, from the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, is trying to do what he thinks is best for Juliet, Lord Capulet starts off as a loving and caring father but slowly graduates into an ignorant and insensitive father because when confronted by Paris, Lord Capulet tells him that Juliet is too young to marry and that in a few years, if she says yes, then it is possible. When Tybalt dies, Capulet moves up the wedding to the upcoming Thursday without Juliet's consent. Lord Capulet loves his daughter but does not know much about her true thoughts or feelings. Mary Shelley’s book, Frankenstein, demonstrates that there can be a hero in any story. Even in a story with so much terror and tragedy. In the book, Dr. Frankenstein’s intentions, some actions, and parts of his personality all make him a hero figure. Dr. Frankenstein’s creature doesn’t fit the criteria of being a hero. Being a hero takes courage, selflessness, humility, patience, and being caring.

The sunset came forward as Young Goodman Brown arrived at Salem Village. There he saw his wife, Faith, whom he had only being married to for three months. Faith and Goodman Brown watched as the villagers tied up a so called “witch” to the stick. The villagers had accused the Indian woman of being a witch when she was seen dancing around. They had planned to get rid of the evil by burning her next morning. Tragically, in the old times this was a common practice. The people of the village considered themselves pure Christians. At least that is what Young Goodman Brown believed, till one night it he thought otherwise.
