CDA Fuctional Area 1:Safety As an early educators,we work very hard to ensure the safety and well being of our childeren in our care.We ensure safey and health by modeling the rules that we apply in our class room safey begins when the childeren arrive for the day. name tags are placed on the door when the childern arrive so we know who is with us.We begin by washing our hands and being seated for breakfast. One teacher will serve breakfast while the other teacher supervisors and sits with the childeren at the breakfast table. this is to prevent chocking and to see that the childeren set in the chairs the proper way.One opening teacher is to server while the other teacher in the class room takes care of changing this to prevent crossing
A Heath and Hygiene policy, which would detail such things as actions to be taken when dealing with body fluids, and hand washing procedures.
In my child care setting, I work hard to provide all children with a safe and healthy learning environment. I research and follow strict standards available from the state related to preventing and reducing injury and illness, helping children feel safe, following sound nutrition and fitness practices, and creating an enriching learning environment.
* Ensuring the environment is clean – Although the nursery has daily cleaners who clean the nursery at the end of play and who twice a week carry out a deep clean, it is the collected responsibility of all staff to ensure the environment is kept clean throughout the day. This means cleaning up any mess or spillages using the appropriate cleaning tools and products. The practitioners, along with the help from the children, are also required to tidy away the toys and playing equipment, and wipe down tables before each meal time so the area is clear for the arrival of plates, cutlery and food and drinks. This is to ensure a healthy and safe environment when eating.
Children and young people should feel happy, safe, respected and included in the school or early years setting environment and all staff should be proactive in promoting positive behavior in the classroom, playground and the wider community. Policies and practice which make sure the safety and wellbeing of children should already be in place and it is this legislation develop through many years and experiences, and mistakes, that underpin the working practices that are used today.
There should be first aid kits in every classroom for safety and preparation of teacher’s confidence toward safety. Supervision is important however, it helps with children and teacher’s safety. Teacher’s should check any equipment at least three times a week to make sure everything is a safe environment for children. If emergency is at extreme levels there should be an emergency preparation plan in every daycare or public school
There will be numerous policies and procedures within a setting and Staff need to be aware of them. There will be a number of other policies written to safeguard the children, young people, staff, and visitors from danger and to ensure safe practice throughout the setting. The purpose of this policy is to maintain an environment where children feel secure, are encouraged to talk, and are listened to. Also children know that there are adults in the day care centre who they can approach if they have any issues for example if a child is suffering from neglect at home the staff at the day care centre and other multi agencies will work together to improve the child’s situation, so that he will stop suffering from neglect at home.
Health and safety policies and procedures help to provide a safe setting for children, parents, staff and volunteers. The policies and procedures will include: risk assessments, security, hygiene, fire emergency, first aid, sickness, accidents and incidents. Good quality care consists of taking steps to prevent illness and accidents, being prepared to deal with emergencies if and when they occur and educating children about health and safety matters. Nursery staff will report any item, practice or event which may affect the safety of children or adults, and the appropriate action
Children develop and learn best when they form good relationships with the adults in their care and when their individual needs are met. We must ensure that we keep all the children safe and secure when they are at the setting. We do this by following all policies and procedures including safety and safeguarding.
It is important that every child feels safe no matter what environment they are in. They should feel safe when attending an early years setting as well as feeling safe in their home environment. Parents should protect their child in every situation and ensure that the child’s health and safety is the main focus when making any decision and when taking care of the child. In the early years setting practitioners should also make sure the child feels safe as they will be spending most of their time in the setting and it’s important that they feel safe when socialising with other children and early year’s professionals. The practitioners can make the child feel safe when coming into the early years setting by greeting the child and their parents.
In the Kindergarten Room we have been developing our ethic of care. We have supported the children’s
During this class, we have discussed many topics from the importance of Early Childhood Education, through all of the developmental stages and into the roots of behavioral issues. I’d have to say out of all the topics, the importance of Early Childhood Education and how children develop and learn from week 2 is what has stuck out the most to me. I have even found myself explaining the importance to friends, with information I have learned from this course.
For example, listening to instructions and staying focused on tasks to avoid injury. Whitebread and Coltman (2008) confirm that kindergarten children are capable of contributing to their learning. Therefore, educators can use group time to re-establish class rules, routines and expectations. Creating posters with the class to display in the room will help ensure all children are aware of what is expected and can help to create the rules to make the kindergarten a safe place for all children to attend (Conway, 2012; DEEWR, 2009).For instance, collaborating to brainstorm safe behaviours and what it means to be friendly; the teacher could ask Gemma to draw pictures to go with the rules and routine to provide visual cues of what is expected at kindergarten (Kearns, 2010); meeting the EYLF Outcome 2 as children become connected and contribute to their world. Establishing a clear routine and standards as a class and having them clearly displayed in the room will assist Gemma in developing her social skills to interact with staff and peers (Cole & Knowles, 2011; Doherty & Hughes, 2009). Doherty and Hughes (2009) affirm it will also promote independence, a sense of control over the environment and offer Gemma the
1. My niece fits into the infancy stage. She is not even a year old. I can see the oral-sensory mode with her. She is constantly taking in the world around her by trying new things with her senses and trying to put things in her mouth. At this stage she is experiencing basic trust vs mistrust. She is trying to trust the world and the people around her. I see this as the basic issue. Hope is another issue that is present. I believe with the help of her supportive parents she is being to develop hope and not withdrawal. She is very open and not withdrawn in any setting. Understanding her basic concerns of trust and mistrust helps me better understand her needs. Although she cannot talk yet, I can use this information to better connect with her
My current idea of happiness is legal throughout this country. The status of laws regarding thing that I would like to have the right is on my education. In the article Risk burden, participation in early childhood education; he argues that in the year of 2008 kids aged four- five are being study to see where they risk, but the outcomes range poorly (Biddle et.al). Education is really important for me because my family never had a chance to study what they wanted too. When it comes to education everyone has the right to continue studying because they want to educate themselves. We can improve on our lifestyle that we can overcome any challenge that gets in the way. In order to achieve all our objectives, we must prepare ourselves on getting
Helping maintain a child 's safety is the main goal of any parent. Having children become vaccinated can allow the child to be protected from many common illnesses. Common vaccinations that most children are able to get at a young age can help cure problems that occur both early on and later in life. With these vaccinations, science has come great ways to keeping children safe and happy. Although there are risks for children who are receiving them, having a child vaccinated is the best way to keep children from becoming very ill.
