COMPETENCY STATEMENT I Goal : To establish a safe, healthy and learning environment. By consistently reviewing the ODE (Ohio Department of Education) preschool program licensing rules I maintain a safe environment for my students. I make sure all exits are marked and unobstructed with properly working doors and locks. Safety and evacuation plans consisting of emergency contact numbers, emergency drill information and diagrams are posted. A communicable diseases chart is posted and a first aid kit is available yet out of the children's reach. My personal items along with cleaning supplies are locked in a cabinet. Children are never left unattended. I model safe practices in the classroom, on the playground and on the bus. By reviewing
Bruno (2009) notes “when adults take responsibility for healthy and safe environments, children are free to discover their world without barriers to impede them” (p. 180). As early childhood professionals, we have a tremendous duty of ensuring that all children, their families, and staff members engage in a safe and healthy learning environment. Ensuring health and safety determines the quality standards of an early childhood education and care program. The NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards (Health Standards 5 A-C) and the NACCP’s Components of NAC Accreditation Standards Health and Safety Standards (F1-8) provides guidelines that ensure consistent health and safety practices within early childhood programs. This short composition will compare and contrast the NAEYC and NACCP standards, discuss how the standards impact children’s social/emotional and academic development, and discuss the most important components of the standards.
Teaching Strategies: During whole group time, read the story “We are All Different”. Discuss the story with the children. Afterward, show them pictures of people from different parts of the world. Let them discuss the differences that they see.
Understanding the "whole" of a child takes devotion, dedication, and consistency. How well the childrens ability to adapt, learn, and improvise are dependant on a well educated provider. My dedication through constant education, re-direction, support, and seamless lesson planning are my path to meeting Competency Statement III.
In any job that you have you have to maintain professionalism in the workplace. You especially need to maintain that professionalism when your work with children. It is very important to do this because it reflects on yourself and your employer. If you work in a childcare facility and wear very inappropriate clothing then chances are you will not be working there long. Professionalism is very important when you work with children.
The credential I chose was the CDA credential because it is the easiest credential to complete. To receive this credential you have to understand the standards for competence which are to establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment for your teachers and students in the classroom, To advance physical and intellectual competence to their students to keep them active and learning by playing or singing silly songs that can help them remember what they learned in a silly and fun way, To support social and emotional development and to provide positive guidance by being a example and guide to your students, To establish positive and productive relationships with families by communicating and staying in touch with your students family to make sure that their children are still making progress at home too, To ensure a well-run, purposeful program responsive to participants need which is to meet the needs of your students by helping explain or even showing what they need to do to succeed, Finally the last standard is to maintain a commitment to professionalism because you want to be professional with everyone but also fair with everyone of your students and staff members.
I greet my student’s families in a polite and respectful manner during each encounter. Respect of religious and cultural backgrounds, family structure, and parenting styles is vital to the foundation of a successful relationship. This is done by having pictures and books representing diverse religions, cultures, and family dynamics in the classroom. Religious holidays are not celebrated in my classroom. For instance, instead of Christmas, we celebrate Winter Festival and talk about snowflakes. I celebrate different cultures monthly to not only expose the children to a new culture, but to also show how each child is special. Monthly I send home a family poster for homework with different themes to promote inclusivity not only for the student but also for the families. The posters are then hung on the wall. Discussions about different family structures is encouraged as well and supported with books such as “The Family Book “by Todd Parr.
On the post there are the activities that teacher do it during the day, and there are the children names and pictures on it, so each child know what is his/ her responsibility in this day. Such as the who is response to be the teacher helper, the light off, and wash dishes. Therefore, the teacher in this activity achieves the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession, which is (5. 3) that says, teachers motivate students to work productively and assume responsibility for their own learning. Moreover, I observed the teacher gave the children paper about “Life safety plan” and she taught them the process and she gave them opportunity to apply it. In this situation the teachers achieve the OSTP, which is (5. 2) that says, Teachers create an environment that is physically and emotionally
According to AICPA website, core competency framework has developed to help accounting students to identify and strengthen their skills. There are three categories: Functional competencies, Personal Competencies and Business Perspective Competencies. Before I started reading this online source of the framework, I did not expect that being accountant has to possess “soft skills” because I thought the only technical skill were enough. Now I learn that in order to be competitive and successful in accounting field, we all need some soft skills, such as written and oral communication skill, problem-solving, the ability to work well with partners and other people, integrity and honesty.
In the beginning of this program I found that being a mentee, while not exactly foreign, wasn’t a position I was used to actively assuming. But as a result of my continued learning I think I have come to embrace that position, much more; for the plain and simple fact that: the better you are at learning from others, the better the quality of your work and contributions (potentially as a teacher, later) will be.
Hello, I’m Yuri. I know that I am a strong candidate for the CDA program, because all I have ever wanted to do since as long as i can remember is to work with children. The reason i want to work with children is because they give me such happiness, and motivation to do something meaningful with my life. Once i first heard about the program i was thrilled but just as terrified.
Furthermore, the ways in which the learning goal supports the commitment to continuing competency is by enhancing knowledge regarding specialized body of knowledge as it looks at the various ways of knowing. Also, develops knowledge-based practice as the strategies use evidence to guide practice, and competent application of knowledge as it aids in the nursing process of care (CNO, 2014, p. 5-7). Ensuring the safety and quality of care of patients would be an evaluation measure to assess the quality and effectiveness of the learning plan. Therefore, evaluation would include being able to recognize and treat episodes of abnormal glucose levels and care for diabetic patients within the scope of an RN by integrating personal and aesthetic way
As part of an upcoming assignment for the class, Conceptual Dimensions of Instructional Leadership, I conducted a safety audit of Southern Choctaw Elementary School from May 29 through May 31, 2018. The purpose was to assess the safety conditions within the school, identify and develop solutions for physical safety concerns, and identify and evaluate patterns of student safety concerns. Based on the results of the audit, it is my hope the principal will develop responses and solutions which may include recommendations for structural adjustments, changes to safety procedures, and/or revisions to the student code of conduct.
In this assignment, I will be discussing three competency assessments about myself, answered by me and my associates. Haitham, my father, owns a construction company where I worked for one year after my undergrads. Muhannad, an old friend who I’ve shared countless memories with. Both assessments were answered from two different perspectives, as a friend, and as a site engineer.
I began my career as a computer operator for a small-scale manufacturing facility. I actually transferred from their customer service department, which is where I learned an excellent skill; I can defuse angry situations and bring calm attitudes to the forefront, which has helped tremendously when dealing with the user community. I worked with off-site developers, via phone conversations, and quickly mastered the concepts. I began to tell the developer what needed changing before they reviewed the code. Without formal training I quickly realized I only understood half of the equation; consequently, I returned to school to earn an associate’s degree in Business Computer Programming. I enjoy the collaborative effort involved in solving a particular challenge, but also enjoy the puzzle-solving aspects of code development; therefore I work alone or with others equally as well. I am looking to be part of a team that can encourage positive change regarding information systems.
“Social workers continually strive to increase their professional knowledge and skills and to apply them in practice (NASW, 2015).” As stated above the facilitators should research self-harm as a coping mechanism, a search for such a situation in a group setting could not be found, but I have found peer reviewed articles regarding the issue. It appears that there are varying degrees of seriousness, but “there is a stigma, myths and lack of understanding that foster burgeoning resentment among others can perpetuate the cycle of shame and guild among people that self-harm, which subsequently increases their dependence on the behavior (Long, 2013, p. 106).” The IASWG standards sections II competency-based assessment includes, emphasis on members strengths and concerns, empowerment, empowerment, and the type of group influences what worker does and how the group accomplishes its goals (IASWG International Association for Social Work with Groups, Inc. , 2015).” I do believe that the group being made up of social work students could possibly impact how the members and the facilitators handle the critical incident. I believe that the group as a whole as well as F4 will be empowered by addressing the thoughts of self-harm.
