Highschool Vs. College In the time that I have been in college, I have seen that more freedom is allowed to students in college than highschool. Of cousre, college is a lot better than high school, but with that it comes more responsibility. College let 's the students choose their choices, such as their schedule, attendence and class selection. College there is less restricted than highschool. In highschool, the dresscode is very important, much more than college. College students can wear whatever they feel like wearing to any class they have. In college, we have professor, but than in highschool they have teachers. In highschool, your teachers will constantly

High school are small often with less than our class has twenty- five. College class has about hundred to five hundred students or more. Highschool students has an guidance counselors to make sure that they are on the right track to graduate. In college, students meet with their academic advisors once a semester in order to take the right classes to be on track to graduate from college. Highschool bell rings to alert students to proceed to the next class. College has no bells. Students are required to know what time it will be and attend class on time. In college, students spends to twelve to eighteen hours a week in class rather than in high school where students spends six hours a day and thrity hours a week in certain classes. Highschool and college are very different In highschool most teachers will let students turn in late work, if she/his/he have an excuse such as " Oh , I forgot my homework ". In college, if a student gives the professor any of these excuses he/she will say " Oh well ". In Highschool there are more test studnets have to take, like district tests. There one tests every two on three weeks. Professors in college could care less whether or not students are in class. If a students not there, it just means that he/she will not have a passing grade in the current class. Missing too many classes will cause the students to fail on have to withdrawn the class. College work is more diffcult than highschool work. Most
Even though high school and college have the same purpose, each has a very different way of handling students and their policies. High school is a lot more strict with their rules including dress codes and schedules. However, college professors and deans treat their students more as adults, and expect them to do what they are supposed and act how they are supposed to. Education after high school is a responsibility, not an obligation. You are no longer forced to become educated, but much rather choose to be.
In high school people usually fall into "cliques" or certain groups of people they hang around with. College and high school are similar; an example is that if someone plays football tend to spend more time with each other. They usually talk with one another or share a bond which no one else usually has. In high school people tend to do the same thing, kids group up with either the jocks or other groups. People just make friends more easily if they have something in common.
Building in-class continuity will help prepare young adults for the work world and requiring class attendance will help develop students for a thriving career. Fortunately, in grade school you are required to go to school. If you don’t there will be some form of consequences. However, once students enter college they now have the choice of attending class, thus, teaching inconsistency. Doing so holds back other students in the class
Classes are the second main reason high school differs from college. Classes in high school generally consist of no more that 25 students. Counselors usually arrange your schedule the way they think is best for you. You are not responsible for knowing what it takes to graduate. Usually the school year is 26 weeks long; classes may have to be taken the whole year in order to get credit for them. You are graded on most assignments done in class. In college some classes may have from 75-100 students. It is your responsibility to enroll in the classes that are required for your major, plus a week for final exams. The year is divided into two 14 week semesters; most classes need to be taken the complete semester in order to get credit. College professors tend to grade students on tests and major papers.
People can really see the distinctive differences these two phase in life; however, there are also some similarities you will carry on during your transition into college lives. Friends from your high school will always be there for you especially when you keep a constant connection between them. Studying habits such as cramming for test or homework, creating during a test or copying another student’s homework, breaking the rules and disciplinary sanctions are still evident in both high school and college.
Both High School and College have their similarities but in many ways they have their differences, from turning in homework to the afternoon snack that will satisfy your cravings. But overall, they're both places that help you succeed in
The classes more discussion-oriented and students are expected to be ready to discuss reading and assignments each class. Most college students feel more comfortable asking for help in smaller class size. In addition, the teacher better understands student strengths and weaknesses. Also, teachers are more apt to help students and it is easier to class become a group of friends. However, in large college, the quality of understanding with professor is not as good and attendance is less likely to count toward your grade. Nonetheless, some people think it is more important to learn from famous professors than to have a small class. According to Stephen Pemberton, class size can make a difference in your education. (“The importance of class size, Match 09, 2009). Conversely, according to Mark Montgomery, educational consultant, smaller classes are taught by the least effective teachers.
On the other hand community college has a different interest for the students. The sports programs vary between community college and high school. Not many things to do they have to find other interest to make it similar in high school activities. Students usually have to make new friends due to that most of high school friends don’t follow each other to college.
Graduating from high school is what every student is looking forward to. However, going to college is a big accomplishment for all students. The first day of freshman high school and college feels the same, the excitement and pressured. As many students experienced, both high school and college could be compared their similarities. First, both students in college and high school are expected to behave in well mannered, attend to every class on time, and respect the teachers or professors. Second, being prepared in class is needed for the success whether the students are in high school or college. Third, high school and college allow the students to figure out and pursue their career. In contrary, high school and college have a lot of differences to each other. Unlike high school, students in college can choose a college they would prefer, they can manage their own time, and students be able to learn how to balance their responsibilities and priorities.
Speaking of the environment it is arguably the most known difference between high schools and colleges. To start off, high schools have both a start time and end time. If a student were to be late in school, or for any class, faculty would make them go to the office to get a tardy pass. But in colleges there’s no such thing as a beginning time of school or an end time of school. In high school there also security guards that are all over the campus to make sure that the environment is safe. The security guards can be known to always keep close eyes on every student as if they’re up to something. But in college there’s the campus police. They’re just policemen who reside in the colleges doing their jobs. There’s not much else to say because the words “campus police” are pretty self explanatory. Obviously the consequences are higher when any types of fights or acts of violence occur in college, since everyone who goes to
Education is a big part of people's lives. The average high school student spends eight hours at school a day. These students attend school for 12 years. Most students continue their education after they graduate. Which can be anywhere from one to twelve years or more depending on what one is going for. High school and college are very different but also have a few similarities as well.
Though no teacher or instructor is the same, college classes and high school classes do tend to have a lot in common. Compared to high school teachers, college professors conduct their classes very much in the same way. However, they also use different tactics to make the information stick with the students. A high school teacher may write down the critical information on a board ultimately telling you what to put into notes. In contrast, a college professor may lecture nonstop to the class, expecting the students to determine the important information.
What has my journey to graduation been like for me? My journey has been a crazy, fun-filled learning adventure. I met many goals and accomplishments I set for myself but I also faced some challenges on the way. For example, I finally met my goal of graduating with a 4.6 GPA and maintaining it. Also, I accomplished completing my last four years of grade school and now I am on the way to college. My last year has been interesting and there are many goals, accomplishments and challenges I can reflect on.
Both high school and university play a significant role in making a person’s future. High school and university are the places where one can gain knowledge and skills required for creating a better future. Also it can pave the way to enlighten one’s brain by learning how to write, how to speak, and how to think. Later on when one gets enrolled in a university, there are opportunities to broaden the knowledge gain in high school and embark on a successful career.
Many college professors don’t take attendance or have the time to make sure all of their students are making passing grades in all of their courses. If you miss a class, plan on getting notes from a fellow classmate. If you attend a large college or university, your professors probably won’t even try to remember your name, as they have hundreds of students each semester. If an assignment was due on a day you decided to miss class, there’s a good chance your professor will not let you turn it in late. You are responsible for remembering important deadlines, as your parents will not be communicating with your professors, and will have no idea when your assignments are due. Also, remember that if you want some one-on-one time with your professor, you won’t be able to hang around after class like you did in high school; you will have to make an appointment during his/her office hours or correspond with him/her through email.
