They also believe that all things are created equal under one god. They all have books of what they believe to be God's word. The Jews have their book known as the Torah. There are two parts in Jerusalem. There is the New City and the Old City. In the Old city there are many temples, one of the most important being the Haram esh-Sharif, or "Venerable Sanctuary." In the Old City there is also the Christian Church of Holy Sepulchre, which is the place where they believe Jesus Christ was buried after coming off the Cross. There is also the Wailing Wall that the Jews go to pray at. The Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque are there for the Muslim community. Jerusalem is the third holiest site for the Muslim population behind Mecca and Medina. Other things that the religions all share are that they all have their sacred places of worship. For the Christians there is the church. For the Jewish people there is the synagogue and then for the Muslims there is the mosque. They also all have their Sabbath or day of rest that they take time to go to their holy place of worship. The Jewish Sabbath is on Saturday while the Christian Sabbath is on Sunday. All three of these religions started off small and a long time ago. Judaism started a long time before the birth of Jesus Christ. Christianity started after the birth of Christ but was not really known about or taught until after Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D. Islam was started later on but still a long time ago. It is thought to be started in 622 A.D. by a man known as Muhammad. Seeing how many similarities there are, let's take a look at the
Judaism and Christianity are key religions in the history of our world, and are still around today. Both of these religions are monotheistic, believing in only YHWH, the God of Abraham. The differences are present of course, but the similarities help one understand where all three were derived from and why. All of the religions share the common ground as to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, the belief of monotheism, and “ethical standards required social justice for individuals and for the community” (144). Judaism is the oldest religion out of the three, then falls Christianity, and lastly Islam.
All three religions believe and worship the same God but they do it in different ways. Judaism happens to be the oldest religion today but they don’t have an official creed. They aim to teach you about God, the Messiah, human beings, and the universe which makes Jewish beliefs very important to them. But it is important to understand that being Jewish is more of a race and culture than it is a religion. Some Jewish people may have no interest in Judaism. Judaism has some similar beliefs with Islam and Christianity but they are more different then similar. Islam is the second largest religion in the world and they have 1.2 billion adherents. All of the adherents know about the “five pillars “of Islam which represent the framework for a responsible and good life. Islamic people believe that they are here on earth as God’s servants to create a moral social order. They believe it’s all a test for humans to prove if they can choose from right and wrong and make good decisions. There isn’t a certain sin not to do, it’s just trying not to fall under the temptations of all the bad things in life and God will be with you as long as you are attempting to be good and stay on the correct path. Christianity shows their faith differently than the other 2, they like to do baptisms when you are a baby or when you become Christian and become a believer. They like to have Sunday gatherings and read scriptures from the bible and have group prayer and singing.
