The society in Fahrenheit 451 is relatively similar to our society. In both of the societies, technology, political correctness and censorship are the three main things that make each society similar. Even though in today’s society, we do not punish each other for having books or burn each other's houses for sinning. In this society some people could care less if an individual sinned. Each society wants everyone to think that they love their job and for some people, they do but some are suffering. They do not want their family to think that they are a burden for not liking their job. Technology weakens unity, which is the backbone of society and it grows people apart. In the novel, Montag states that “Nobody listens anymore. I can’t talk to the walls because they’re yelling at me. I can’t talk to my wife, she listens to the walls. I just want someone to hear what I have to say. And maybe if I talk long enough, it’ll make sense. And I want you to teach me to understand what I read.” Once he says this, it shows that Montag is craving that human connection and intimacy that Clarisse provided but the machines cannot. With the reading of books as an outlaw, violators are being killed for wanting to learn and most of the population relates to the characters because that is what the “powerhouse” is afraid of (Marcino). When Montag questions the law and starts to read and seek a teacher, that opens many minds for not only people in his society, but it also opens ours. It shows
Ray Bradbury wrote the novel Fahrenheit 451, which is a story about a society that believed books were for burning and where thinking was discouraged to fulfill one's achievements.
Imagine a world where simple tasks such as reading books or walking outside, are acts seen as taboo. Well, that is precisely the case in the book of Fahrenheit 451. In this world, books are illegal, in fact it is considered normal for people to stay inside all day and watch the four walls. Their world is made that way in order to guarantee that all of the citizens are happy and peaceful. However, happiness is a mask that people wear instead of actually experiencing. In the book, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, to be happy and fulfilled a person has to conform to what is considered normal in the society.
The book Fahrenheit 451 is a book that promotes many themes and morals. There are more than just a few themes we can see in this story, some of them quite different to the others. Some of this has to do with violence, in the book we read about how young people go around killing others just like them or sometimes just because they are a bit different, which shouldn’t matter, another one about how the citizens are not satisfied with how they’re living their lives. What if many of them actually found appealing or amazing the art of writing but weren’t able to pursue that because in that society it wasn’t right to do that, it was more like a crime.
Everything in this life goes by fast. The society in everyday life and the one in Fahrenheit are becoming more similar as time goes by. The people we meet and talk to impact our lives in many different ways. In our society and in Fahrenheit 451, connections to others determine the way we live our lives affecting those who are still living after our death.
“The word intellectual of course became the swear word it deserved to be. You always dread the unfamiliar” (Bradbury 53). I think in the society of Fahrenheit 451 they weren’t allowed to have books because it’s easier to control a government if society doesn’t have knowledge. There are many differences between the societies of Fahrenheit 451 and our society. The major differences are; the role of a fireman, the purpose of books, and the relationship with the outside world.
How would you deal with the fact that your whole life is being mapped out for you and you get to have no choice nor no say? In his book Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury created a society that took away so many people’s happiness to decrease some people’s sadness. In this novel, a grown man named Montag goes on this journey to discover the true meaning of books and what it means to him. But on this journey, he meets two very important people that help him figure out how to be happy. Even with the challenges Montag had to overcome and the rules he had to bend, at the end he did what he had to do and did what was best for him. The book Fahrenheit 451 shows us a society that is very different from our society, including major differences in job duties
Our society is heading for destruction, similar to the destruction in Ray Bradbury’s novel Fahrenheit 451. In this novel, the characters live in a society that is truly awful, but the author shows us that our society is heading down that path also. However, in the story, the beliefs of the main character Guy Montag change drastically, from beginning the novel as an oblivious citizen to ending it by trying to change his society for the better. Guy lives in a society in which the government outlaws books because they cause people to ponder ideas and develop new ones. Consequently, with the stories stripped from their lives as if they had never existed, the citizens of this society blindly follow their government. Throughout the novel, the

Our society is all about entertainment and government control. Everyday hours are wasted watching a screen. Every day the government makes more and more request to censor items on Google. In the novel Fahrenheit 451 Ray Bradbury warns future generations not to be trapped by entertainment and the government censorship. Look around; we are no different. This essay will state the similarities and differences between our societies. I believe that if we keep heading in this direction we will turn out to be like the Fahrenheit 451 society.
In Fahrenheit 451, owning and reading books is illegal. Members of society focus only on entertainment and speeding through life. If books are found, they are burned and their owner is arrested. If the owner refuses to abandon the books, as is the case with the Old Woman, he or she often dies, burning along with the books. People with interests outside of technology and entertainment are viewed as strange, and possible threats. In this novel, censorship plays an enormous role and is noted to be the most important theme through the actions of the people and the reason why the banned books in the first place.
Imagine yourself in a world where your pleasures go down in flames and your thoughts are restricted, because of the voice of one powerful individual, who decided your society needed modification. Fahrenheit 451 is a novel that takes place in the 24th century. This futuristic story is the equivalent of a dystopian society where nobody enjoys nature, they spend most of their time alone, and watch excessive amounts of television. Ray Bradbury introduces a number of different characters that interact with this dystopian society in a number of distinctive ways. The traditional perception of a fireman, undergoes plenty of change from our present to the 24th century. The practice of the society is questioned throughout the course of the novel. The importance of the character Faber, is examined through a character sketch with reference to his fitting within a Utopian or Dystopian society.
How would you picture your world without books? Would you want to become intelligent or would you rather go with the flow? In the novel fahrenheit 451 there was a man named Guy Montag, his occupation was a “Fireman”. Unlike firemen the world has grown up with, these firemen would start fires instead of putting them out, this would be just one of the few very peculiar situations in the story. In Montag’s world they despise books, they are viewed very negatively, making anyone who reads them a criminal. Montag would go through the story meeting many others that would entirely change his point of view and opinion of books. He would then go on trying to fix their world and bring books back. In the novel “Farenheit 451” author Ray Bradbury reveals two key problems that are wrong with society; Society doesn’t want people to be themselves, they want everyone to be a certain way and violence is resorted as the first option to many problems that could be fixed many better ways.
Knowledge is used every day, we increase our knowledge in society by going to school or by learning from our mistakes. Knowledge is very powerful, it helps people understand right and wrong. In the book Fahrenheit 451, the people in the society have a very poor amount of knowledge and are getting controlled by the government. The people who have knowledge and enjoy reading are considered “odd” or “weird”. In the novel Bradbury claims that without knowledge people get easily controlled.
Thinking of a perfect society might be hard for you to think of, in Fahrenheit 451 you will obviously think that the society is far from being perfect, the citizens lacked social norms, empathy, and a lot of them lacked their mental stability. Their government didn’t want people to read books so they burnt certain books so citizens didn’t really know what was going on in the past and in the present of their community. Unlike our government who are very open with our pasts and is almost really good at letting the society know what is going on in our community. There are many similarities as well as differences between our modern day society and the society in “Fahrenheit 451” First, the differences from our society to the society in fahrenheit 451 is the technology is so much more advanced than ours is, the first example of the advanced technology is they had wall t.vs the whole wall is a t.v. They use it as a entertainment they could have multiple walls or just one but with our t.v the biggest one we think of inside a house is maybe a 80’ inch tv which does not take the whole wall and sits on a wall mount.
The underlying theme of the book is censorship through rules, as citizens are no longer allowed to read or have books. Firemen are forcing society into ignorance instead of knowledge; the population in Fahrenheit 451 now believes that you can’t gain anything from reading books. There is also a discouragement of thinking and thoughtful discussions. Henceforth, this is proved, when Mildred can’t even strike up a conversation with her husband or friends about anything besides the programs on later. Montag doesn’t seem to have any hobbies; he only works and then comes home. The strict routine that every citizen is on doesn’t allow them any time to even think about reading books or discovering themselves. Therefore, the regulations placed upon the
