Those in the psychology or counseling field who are also Christian have unique and different approaches but they draw from both Christianity and psychology to help them succeed.

Even though some people walk the same path they may see different things. Some may see things in the theological way with God’s presence everywhere they look and everything they do. Some may see it in a psychological way, always looking for the explanation of why something is the way it is. Together, theology and psychology can bring a different view and perspective that they never would have saw by themselves.

David Entwistle’s book was published in 2010 and discusses the ongoing challenge of the areas of Psychology and Theology and whether they are at odds with each other. The core idea of the textbook is tossed around initially and poses the question that it may be impossible for theology and psychology to co-exist in the same area because of the nature of both: one is based solely on faith and the other is based on proven truth. The author refers to the ancient cities of Athens and Jerusalem to help the reader to grasp the

Entwistle (2010) breaks the analysis into different sections to show the integrative approaches to psychology and theology from a realistic perspective. In the initial part of the book Entwistle (2010) makes it clear that everything comes from God, there is theology and psychology because God has set the ground rules for these principles. He looks into how civilization was initiated and how situations have made things evolve and how certain things have come into existences. In the second

The integration of psychology and theology has become a hot topic since psychology began to integrate into a new part of society. Integrative Approaches to Psychology and Christianity argue ways that one can embrace psychology into the Christian world. The church has always been a dominant part of society. In this book, the author continuously discusses that in the counseling office bringing Christianity could be beneficial. The author has experience in cognitive therapy and uses it as theoretical groundwork. He provides examples of the most fitting way for Psychology and Christianity integration. He also provides different challenges that can be of concern when bringing religion into counseling sessions and how those challenges could be approached. These challenges discuss spiritual formation development, personal and professional lives being hazy, certain problems in training, different views of the world, insufficient evidence
Psychology has been primarily viewed as a methodical system that seeks empirical evidence to explain nature, while theology is often viewed as reasoning based on man’s eternal destiny as discussed in biblical teachings. Falsities are held within both of these historical beliefs. Psychology often “considers questions for which empirical evidence is not available, or even possible,” (Entwistle, 2010, p. 125). Theology must not “ignore the fact that man is solidly a part of nature,” (Entwistle, 2010, p. 125). By drawing attention
The book, Integrative Approaches to Psychology and Christianity written by Entwistle, N. David, analyzes the integration between Christianity and psychology. Entwitle explains why Christianity and psychology cannot integrate in the same area because the former is based on faith while the latter is based on the truth. However, he emphasizes that the interaction between psychology and Christianity cannot be avoided because the two concepts help people to understand the source of human behavior, as well as the healing process of a broken heart (Entwistle, 2010, p. 51). The theme of the whole text is inclined upon the idea that psychology and Christianity can be integrated and used together irrespective of the fact that they are based on completely different ideas.
Christians have a unique situation with being involved with psychology. Psychology and faith are hard to fit together. Throughout this paper, how psychology and Christianity can be used together is discussed. Personally, before even starting to study psychology as an academic study, this student had experience with Christian psychology. Christianity and psychology can work together, but some aspects of psychology are not able to be fit with Christianity.
