People believe that this type of respect can come two ways. One of those ways being having nice clothes and having lots of money. Being able to buy a women nice things and show her off to the world keeps her happy but the respect that comes from buying her things and spending money only comes from a few people, the people that just want to get whatever they can from you. It’s not a genuine kind of respect. If you no longer have all the money and nice things those people slowly fade away. Others think that you don't need money to gain respect. They think if you treat a girl with respect and show everyone that she's everything to you, you will be respected because people see you as a kind hearted person.
