Joy Expresses Itself What does Joy mean? This word that has been used for almost one thousand years, borrowed from the old French, and originally from late Latin, is defined by dictionaries in a few words sentence all related to pleasure and happiness. Joy is a felling, a state of being, who’s abstract nature gives it a wider significance. The American writer Joseph Campbell expressed, “Find a place inside where there's joy, and the joy will burn out the pain.” Mother Teresa, for her part said, “Joy is prayer; Joy is strength: Joy is love; Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.” Certainly, joy is relative to rejoice and delight, and has a different, and personal meaning for everyone. In my opinion, Joy is one of those deep satisfactory feelings, that spontaneously arise from our interior. I think it is possible to cultivate it as well; when one smiles, has good thoughts about life and others, fills their soul with hope and gratitude, joy will grow in one’s heart as a result. Despite the fact that it has an abstract meaning, joy can be seen physically manifested. People who are joyous, look like spring flowers, not exited, but deeply happy, peaceful, and grateful. This feeling goes beyond one’s will. It is like a perpetuation of that moment of silence, which many people refer to as “an angel has passed.” When joy is present, there is no worry about ourselves. Specially those, who most of the time, try to be conscious of their facial expressions, when in joy, and owned by its radiance, forget about it. We are pleasure filled and blissful, showing a typical expression of innocence and calmness.
