1. There’s a gas station which is very popular and busy, but at night it’s very slow, barely anyone goes to the gas station. One night it was a few of my friends and I that went to this specific gas station for sodas and snacks. By the way, no one was at the gas station, no one purchasing anything inside or anyone at the pumps getting gas for their vehicles. It was an empty gas station, my friends and I, and the store employee were the only ones there. Once we were done purchasing our things we were walking back to our car we heard noises almost like a subtle laughter, so us white people investigated the surroundings. There was an alleyway in the back of the gas station that was very sketchy. We walked down the alley until we reached a high fence that was locked. My friend broke the lock, and we went into this sort of woody area, some like the woods. I didn’t go in, but two of my friends did, and I heard the laughter, and then it went dead silent. The gas station was very sketchy, and I heard the very creepy laugh, so my friends and I left immediately. 2 . A happy place is my house, it’s a pleasant place, but it’s also one of my favorite places. It has everything I need and want; it’s also delightful to be in my house, I enjoy It a lot. It is freezing and relaxing. I am barely there, but I would like to there more often. I have my bed, laptop, tv, computer, Xbox and my phone. I have everything there, and I quite honestly enjoy being there very much. I watch a lot of
Looking through the glass, a car zoomed past the fifteen miles per hour speed limit blasting obnoxiously loud music and laughter. The rusty blue mailbox with the dent in front was still there next to the barren oak tree. Repetitive banging started nearby and I almost fell back. Bright yellow lights were on at the attic window at the house next door. This would usually start about two to three in the morning, but by then, I would usually fall asleep. This was strange considering that the neighborhood considered that house to be vacant. It was assumed that the person who bought the house was using the house as a vacation rental house since every week, a family group or couple would move in with their suitcases and leave at the end of the week. A strange banana yellow car was parked at the front of the house next door. Maybe the owner had come to make repairs? But the question remained as to why they would make repairs in the middle of the
I was walking along the sidewalk on a brisk Autumn night as leaves crunched beneath my feet. Eerie fog rolled out along the road and brought a chill down my spine. I began to pick up my pace as I wanted to get home as fast as possible. The streets looked like a ghost town, no one was outside and only the dim streetlights lit my path. I took out my cellphone and attempted to call my mother, but it went right to voice mail. Just as i was pocketing my phone I heard a disturbing cackle. At that moment I began sprinting not wishing to stay and find out who or what made that sound. I was about half a mile from my house when I heard the disturbing noise again. Being in a pure state of terror I overlooked a pothole which I promptly stepped in and
My favorite place to be is Chick-Fil-A. Chick-Fil-A is a bright red and light colored brown building with a plant statue of a cow, an outside eating area, and a drive through. When you walk in you might hear the frier, or the timer for the waffle fries, people talking, kids playing on the plastic playground, and you might hear the drink machine running if you are at the counter. Some of things you will touch, that could be very gross, are food, tables, door handles, condiment containers, and more than likley your disgusting, filthy money. At Chick-Fil-A you will probably taste chicken because pretty much everything they serve at Chick-Fil-A is chicken, of course. You could also end up tasting their amazing milkshakes or your everyday
Happiness. It is not tangible, measurable or even understandable. Yet, above all other things, it is what people seek the most. My special place is a campsite called Day Maker 23 located on a small island on Namaken Lake in Voyageurs National Park. Voyageurs National Park is located in Orr Minnesota just south of the Canadian border. It is also located on the Eastern edge of the Canadian Shield. An exposed area of Precambrian stone.
Disney World—the greatest place on earth. A place that anyone of age can have fun. According to the official webpage of Disney World, “the unforgettable happens [t]here”. Along with the opinions of many kids, teens, and adults, I agree that it is the greatest place on earth. The magical story book setting brings back the childhood nostalgia every American has felt in their life at least one time. However America is the only country to preserve the innocence from our childhood. But why? Why does America try so hard to protect our childhood innocence from the harsher reality?
Explanatory essay When I was 10 years old, I walked into a scary apartment with a cemetery in the back with me brother and his friends. The wind was blowing so hard like someone was giving me a sign not to go in but I did. When I went in the the apartment there was a sign that said “beware” in red colors. My brother and his friends when into a room with burnt doll heads.
Happiness is one of the most significant dimensions of human experience. Many people can argue that happiness is a meaningful and desirable entity. Studies indicate that everyone pursues happiness in various aspects of their life. Our four fathers saw happiness as a need, so they made the pursuit of happiness as one of the three unalienable rights branded in the Declaration of Independence. There is a sense of complexity behind the meaning of happiness; its definition is not definite. Think of happiness as a rope; there are many thin fiber strands bonded together to become the strength of the rope. Like the analogy of the rope, there are numerous factors that can contribute to an individual’s overall happiness in life. This study is going to
A place in my life where i feel perfectly content is the baseball field. This is because when i'm on the field i can be standing in the outfield in my natural position and hear quiet. Another reason is when u hear the hard knock of the bat hitting the ball and looking up with the ball flying right towards you. Smack The ball hits my glove the game and then I realized that my team had won the game.
What then is happiness? Perhaps happiness is a basic and familiar concept, yet it may occur to be perplexing when one has to convey it through the medium of words. Lyubomirsky defines the term as “the experience of joy, contentment, or positive well-being, combined with a sense that one’s life is good, meaningful, and worthwhile” (Lyubomirsky 32). It is often subjective, personal, and can stem from a myriad of activities: some may experience similar feelings by engaging in sports, spending time with family and friends, others while reading or simply being in solitude. Due to the personal nature and subjectivity of happiness, a handful of myths pertaining to this concept has emerged. Three happiness myths were presented within the chapter: 1. Happiness must be found. 2. Happiness lies in changing our circumstances. 3. You either have it or you don’t. The first myth greatly piqued my interest, since I, too, have once externalized happiness and assumed that it would be found outside.
Sitting here and looking back, my life is pretty boring now compared to when I was younger, it was all fun, now as I'm growing up I realize not everything is easy, school is a lot more stressful. I was born here in Longmont colorado, my birthday is in June 3rd so I just turned 13. I am the youngest, yet still taller than my older sister, and two brothers. Mexico and North Carolina are my favorite places to go one reason is because there family that i rarely see, when I do go to either place it gets my mind off things, which is good. I would like to have a great life someday maybe it's just because I'm lazy or school is just boring but I don't wanna go to college. Also I didn't have much friends when I was in elementary, something good about
My favourite place in the world is Camp Hurontario located in the Georgian Bay directly next to the Massassauga provincial park. This is an area that I feel very strongly about because of the influential effect it has had on my life and the way it makes me feel whenever I go back. When choosing Camp Hurontario as my favourite place I went back to look at our class definitions on the ideas of place and space to help my choice. “Place is defined as a portion of geographical space occupied by a person or thing”(Duncan 1981), structured by the locale, location and the structure of feeling. Using the idea of place outlined by Duncan above I can define my favourite place through landscape, culture, and history.
The sun had just turned but I knew I needed to keep on running and finish my jog. As the trees formed around me, I saw something flash into the woods, I swear it was a person. Nevertheless I kept on going at a faster pace, this place could be scary at night! Halfway down the track, the sun had just disappeared when I heard a scream. I ran even faster knowing there was something bad going on. Just before my eyes fell a body with a cut in the throat. I also screamed myself, then sprinted out of the woods up the road and straight to the police office. It was closing time and the door was locked so I banged on it furiously with my fists. Thinking back now that was probably not a smart thing to do, but I had just seen a dead body. An old lady opened
As I sit here, on the hood of my car looking out into the vast field I think to myself, why this place? Out of all the places that mean so much to me, why does this place stand out the most? Everyone has that one spot that is special to him or her for various reasons whether it be a memory, experience, how it makes them feel, etc. For me, my favorite place encompasses all my senses bringing them to an all time high filling me with an overwhelming indescribable feeling. It’s my sanctuary, a safe place, but above all a place to clear my mind and getaway from reality. There aren’t enough captivating words to describe the beauty of this place. In the winter, the vast field covered in a blanket of untouched glimmering snow surrounded by bare
It is no doubt about it that everyone has somewhere that they have adapted to long enough to call it there home! A place they can relax and really be their selves, for some it may have been their grandparents house, aunties house or wherever they felt comfortable. Well I of course felt comfortable in my own home, a four bedroom house on the west side of North Miami. My home in Miami was perfect I had my own room, I was very comfortable there, and it was a place to get away from the world.
