Diversity Makes People Are Alike

Diversity is what makes you unique, being composed of differing elements. I am someone who is composed of differing elements such as culture, voice, personality, etc.

Diversity does not simply refer to race or even culture; it’s everywhere. We are all diverse, meaning we are all different from one another. The book The Other Wes Moore we see two kids with the same name, but very different lives that they live. Wes and Wes are similar in ways, but in the end turn out nothing like each other. One chose to lead his life in a better path, while the other sticks with a path that ultimately destructs his life. In this paper, I will discuss what diversity means to me, messages that I learned about various minorities or majorities when I was a child, if my views have changed, when diversity influenced my life, and the situation when it influenced me. Some other things that I will discuss also are the main characters of the book, examples of diversity involving the main characters, and which character I related with the most in this book.

We are all different in our own ways and care so much about diversity. We strive every day

It was pouring rain the day I moved to Tennessee, which reflected exactly how I felt on the inside. One week before my Junior year of high school, my parents decided to relocate the family six hours away from where I’d lived my entire life—a decision that was not supported by all those involved.

Diversity comes in many different forms. Growing up in a small rural town located in the midst of the Bible belt the diversity takes on a unique meaning in the small community I live in. I am a Senior Lieutenant on the Hallsville Drill Team, which consists of fifty girls that are together for fifteen hours a week. In that time I realized just how diverse lives can be. Through the relationships I have built with my teammates, I have learned that even though most of us have grown up in the same town there are aspects of our lives that are uniquely different.

Diversity is easy when you have lived in different countries and indulged in various cultures throughout childhood. My journey began when I was born in Indiana and by the time I was 7, I had experienced life in Hong Kong, Japan and we eventually settled in Hawaii for the remainder of my adolescence. My father was the president of an air cargo company and traveled extensively, always coming home with various gifts from exotic places. It wouldn't be a lie to say I was an ungrateful spoiled brat, however that all changed after he left for a business trip and never came back. My father abandoned us in the spring of 2000, emptying all our savings and college funds and disappeared. Unlike diversity, adversity was hard for me, but it has made a solid foundation that I can build anything on, even earning a challenging degree in information technology.

Everyone lived together with respect and harmony for the most part but you were what you were and you couldn’t change that. So when this story came out it was diversity shock for me and that’s why I share this .

Many people live in different circumstances, for example, I live in a diverse neighborhood with a mix of races and cultures. Most of the time where you live can affect and shape you.

Living in today’s society, you are able to experience things you would not have been able to years ago. Diversity in the United States, has increased tremendously and we are able to see different races, cultures, ethnicities, religions and so on. However, these factors have a great impact on who you are and how people perceive you.

What is it diversity? There 15 people in this room at this moment. And I am absolutely positive that if i asked you this question I would get 15 different answers. Moreover, every answer will be correct in its own way. Why? Because everybody is unique. Because we all come from different backgrounds, different religions, different genders, physical abilities, ethnic groups, economic statuses, skin colors, cultures, with various combinations of those things. But everyone is 100% perfect. It is just that the 100% perfect is unique and different for each person. Only imagine Rubic cube. 3*3*3. Six colors, fifty four individual pieces. But how many combinations there are! Hundreds? Thousands? Millions?-Quintillions! To be precisely, about 43 quintillion-43 with with 18 zeroes. Why sometimes we are simplifying to things just to race or age and do not we want to see combinations. F.W. Nietzsche noticed "Every person knows well enough that they are unique , only once on this earth , and by no extraordinary chance will such a marvelously picturesque piece of diversity be put together a second time."
