Whatever your opinion on Donald Trump, I am sure that you were unable to avoid the media coverage over the last week regrading his inauguration. I always tend to watch as much of these things as possible, after all it is history in the making and it is something I will be able to share with Joseph and Victoria when they are older. Watching the inauguration got me thinking... With the rise of camera phones in particular, we are never far from a camera. We can take photographs at the drop of a hat. Whilst watching the inauguration I noticed that so many people who were attending chose to watch watch the ceremony through their phone, either videoing or taking photos, rather than watching it, for real, in the flesh. It got me thinking...
“Political leaders who use the tools of mass propaganda to create a sense of faux intimacy with citizens, no longer need to be competent, sincere, or honest.” In the quote, Hedges is explaining who uses artifice and what they do with their power. Artifice is a skill that is difficult to maintain and keep realistic. Being the most essential skill, artifice is the art of deceiving. People’s ideas and thoughts are altered for the gain of one and the loss of another. Everyone will need artifice at some point in their life to get the attention, item, or person they want. Specifically, our current President, Donald Trump, uses artifice all too much. He has exceeded his use of artifice. Trump won was because of his excellent use of artifice. He was able to persuade enough people to vote for him and his changes he would fulfill. Artifice takes quite skill to make believable for your audience. The importance of artifice during his ruling is immense, making it the most essential skill.
the cameras that are used today are used to monitor people in a way of protection. For
Election night was a night of uncertainty. On November 8, 2016, half of America was left in complete shock when several mainstream media outlets reported Donald Trump as the new president-elect. Everyone wanted to know what the future of America would be. Numerous celebrities took to social media to encourage individuals to protest for what is right. Not only did African-Americans protest but so did whites and many other minorities. We fear that he will be very reckless with foreign leaders, enslave black people again, and also continue his rash comments via Twitter. Like many others in my community, I believe that anyone who thinks he is unfit to be president should continue to
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are running for President of the United States with opposing views on how to run the country. Both candidates have a lot of problems that could affect their candidacy. The 2016 presidential election could be the most scandal-plagued match-up ever held. The Republican front-runner is at least as burdened with controversy as Clinton is, and while many of the Clinton cases involve suspicion and shadowy links, many of Trump’s accusations are fully documented in court cases and legal proceedings. The range of Trump’s controversies is truly remarkable, ranging from allegations of mafia ties to fraudulent business dealings, racial discrimination, and alleged marital rape. These allegations have not stopped Trump from
On January 20th, 2017, President Donald J. Trump was sworn into office after a tough year and election. Many people believed that he would not be able to win presidency, they said that he wasn't capable of winning an election since he was against very acknowledged candidates such as Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. People believed that Hillary would definitely win but by surprise Trump won the electoral vote with his prize being a whole nation to lead. After being sworn in and officially becoming the president, Trump gave his moving but controversial inaugural speech. Through the longevity of the speech, Trump uses various rhetorical devices in order to get his point across to the audience.
The United States, a beacon of freedom and opportunity, has been violated by the distasteful presidency of Donald Trump. A president, or any leader for that matter, should display honor, fortitude, and acceptance, none of which describe our leader. Mr. Trump exhibits every undesirable quality a political figure shouldn’t have, such as; insecurity, intolerance, and ineptitude.
Democracy allows for the citizens of a country to hold those responsible, accountable for their actions. Donald Trump is running for the presidency but unlike many other candidates, he does not communicate the truth media sources. He reinterprets events that have taken place and tries to put a positive spin or misplace the blame.
The media are the founder of Trump presidency. I don't think Trump would have been elected to be our next president, if the media had never gave him the free coverage in the beginning; they planted a seed for Trump to grow in the general election, and I'm sicken by all of the media coverage he has gotten. The media seemed to have normalized Trump, and didn't do enough of good job to stop Trump, from being elected.
Discrimination is alive and well in our society. Immigrants, Islamists, and refugees have been the center of political controversy. In particular, Donald Trump has initiated a vicious assault on these people in order to achieve a political advantage. It is unfortunate that some who are regarded as "well-educated" in our society seem to fail to understand that the actions of radicals cannot act as causation in order to accuse an entire race of terrorism or rape. Concern for safety and scrutinizing an entire population do not go hand-in-hand. It is, in fact, possible to improve border control without making bigoted statements about those who are crossing it. Taking an extremist position to elicit a laugh, to pander to fear, or to make a point
These past few months, America has been in a great state of turmoil due to one of the most controversial presidential elections in history, the outcome of which has left the country divided with the question of whether the surprise presidential elect, Donald Trump, is actually fit to be president. He is one of the only people in this nation’s history that has managed to become the presidential elect without being a career politician or having any background experience in that area, and that alone deserves at least a little bit of recognition. For as long as anyone can remember this country has been ran by politicians who have time and time again disappointed the American people. The huge amount of distrust that has built up over the years is why the people began to demand a change and chose a man with no real experience. He is brash and outspoken, yet the formality is just one example of the many changes that are going to begin. While there has been a lot of debate over whether or not presidential elect Donald Trump is fit for office there are positive points to his election such as his views on imposing congressional term limits, bringing jobs back from overseas, as well as his stance on immigration and Obama Care.
The Controversial news topic I have chosen is the speech in which Donald Trump made horrible remarks about the Mexican people and how he disrespected every Mexican person in America. Donald Trump first launched his campaign in Spanish in which he tried to gain Spanish supporters but in a following speech he blatantly changed course and insulted Mexicans when he said that Mexico has many problems and they are bringing it to the United States. He later went on to say that they are bringing drugs ,crime and rapists , This statement put the famous business man in hot water and made many people angry including the Latino Community , average Americans and even his fellow republican candidates. Many had claimed that trumps need for attention went
In terms of his relationship with the American public, Trump has exploited one of German sociologist Ferdinand Tonnies concepts of social relations known as Gesellschaft. According to Tonnies’ theories, social relationships or ties can be categorized by the distinct interactions amongst individuals, and the either personal or impersonal roles, or values and beliefs between them. In the case of Gesellschaft, Tonnies describes it as a large, urban society in which social bonds are based on impersonal and specialized relationships (lecture 9). In other words, the relationship between Trump and many of his supporters are not based in deep rooted tradition or close personal friendships, but instead on an impersonal relation that is viewed as rational, and derived as a response to their agreeance with Trump’s beliefs and ideologies. This support and devotion is apparent in many of Trump’s rallies; however, one rally on November 21st of last year particularly highlights the reality of negative influences within reference groups, and how they can be used to exercise immense power.
Great job with you example of power and choice. I agree that Trumps tactic of focusing on the media and his slogan "Make America Great Again" are powerful actions he used to get elected. He used social media app to get his points and opinions across, and used it as a form of advertisement. Donald Trump has 28 million followers across various social media sites and he was able to use this as an advantage during his campaign. He focused on persuasive tactics on these websites and when someone would put out a fake story he would lash out and defend himself. Donald Trump convinced many people that America needs to change and he should be the one to do that. He showed throughout his campaign how powerful he can be, and it was ultimately the voters
Imagine seeing a photo shared with you, and in your head you think, you could have done that a lot better. That person had a camera accessible, and they had the perfect timing. People use what they have and if they are dedicated enough the outcome can become stunning. To some people spend thousands on cameras and accessories can really be useful, to others a phone with a built in camera works fine. Every detail that is put into a picture can tell a story those stories can never be compared to something written. Despite the fact that living in the moment is a big part of this generation, carrying around cameras is also a big part of living.
It has been a decades-long tradition for presidential nominees to release their tax information to the public. Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has refused to release his tax returns, claiming that he cannot do so until the IRS audit is complete and that voters would not get much information from it anyways. Trump acknowledged in a debate on October 9, 2016 that he had used a $916 million loss in 1995 to avoid federal income taxes. He claimed that Warren Buffett, the chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., used similar tax avoidance strategies.
