According to my findings from unit 1, use of technology in lessons must not be a goal unto itself: the purpose is not to teach children how to use computers; they can do this as they get older, just as they can learn to drive a car later in their lives (Wardle, 1999).Successful technology integration is achieved when the use of technology is routine and transparent, accessible and readily available for the task at hand and supporting the curricular goals, and helping the students to effectively reach their goals.
The observation conducted and post observation discussion with my experienced colleague helped me to identify key teaching and learning activities that I could implement in my lesson plan. Also the points of reflection that were mutually figured out served as a guide for me to prepare for Unit 2.

Consequently, when selecting a tool I will consider if it meets the demands of the task and if it will deliver the outcome required. If there is a better method then the technology will not necessarily support the objective. In addition to these experiences, I learnt about substitution, augmentation, modification, redefinition (SAMR) model(hipassus.com, 2013)in one of my guided sessions which was totally a new learning for me. It is so close to my heart that I will always consider it while planning my lesson and will try to achieve the modification or redefinition levels provided the lesson objectives allow this
This paper is a personal technology plan that includes my personal philosophy on integrating technology in the classroom as well as my professional goals concerning technology in the classroom. My Mission and Vision Statement are included as well as a plan for communications, integrating technology, software to support assessment, and technology ethics for a strong guideline in the classroom. Although this plan will need to be revised as advances in technology are made this is strong ground work that I can build on as a professional educator. Using this plan I can ensure that my students are using the latest
Another impact of the new learning that I will follow in Module 1 that I will follow is as a teacher I need to make sure that the lesson is interesting and all the learners involved in carrying out the
In the articles “What Is The Future Of Technology In Education?” by Matt Britland and “New Class(room) War: Teacher vs Technology” by Samuel G. Freedman, two different viewpoints are expressed toward technology integration education. The authors show the implications of technology on the attitudes of teachers and students. Britland and Freedman agree that technology and theoretical framework are two inseparable facets but propose different solutions to the actions that should be taken to result in pedagogical expertise.
Lundy’s article starts off with her hesitation to add technology just for the sake of adding technology. However, she said, “Both my teaching and research experiences have convinced me that a thoughtful and appropriate integration of technology in the classroom can be a powerful instructional tool (Lundy, 2015, p. 99).” I agree with her statement that technology can be used appropriately and effectively in the classroom. More specifically, I think a developmentally appropriate digital text can be effectively integrated into the classroom.
When I worked on my undergraduate degree between 2000 and 2004, technology integration was not part of my course load. At that time, technology in the classroom was treated separately as the author describes. The prevailing attitude at the time was, “If you know how to use it and your school has the resources, go for it, but if you don’t know how to use to use and your school doesn’t have the resources, it’s not really necessary.” Currently, however, that is not true. It is a necessary component of education, not something supplemental or extra. The author offers many practical strategies for integrating technology in the English classroom, many of which I would like to research further and possibly implement in my own
Educators must do their best to reach all students. Research is providing proof that educational technology is positively impacting students’ academic performance. We must work collaboratively to find more ways in successfully incorporating technology within our own classrooms. We must effectively implement technological resources to make the most of our lessons
After reading chapter two, I plan on implementing technology in my future classroom, as much as I can. I learned that technology advances learning and allows students to go beyond their textbook. While it is important for students to learn about the world around them, interacting in the world around them is so much more beneficial. This is why I plan on incorporating technology into my teaching strategies.
During lessons students should be aware of what is expected of them throughout the lesson. To ensure that students are aware of what is expected it can be helpful to have daily objectives on the board and review with the students. When beginning lessons it can be helpful to start the lesson by reviewing and asking questions about key vocabulary and content from previous lessons that can help connect prior knowledge to new material. Students should be encouraged to use notes from different lessons to help answering questions. This type of instructional practice can help promote students to want to participate and feel confident in the answers. The environment in the class can change from the teacher teaching the students to the students participating
Leading up to schools implementing technology into their curriculum and instructions they should understand that benefits outweigh any possible complications. According to Kevin Delaney, “Pioneering teachers are getting their classes to
In his book, Foundations of Educational Technology: Integrative Approaches and Interdisciplinary Perspectives, Michael Spector explains, “It is not sufficient for a teacher or trainer to understand the use of a technology. What is essential for effective learning and instruction is for a teacher or trainer to understand how to best integrate the use of a technology to achieve instructional goals pertaining to a subject area with a group of learners” (Spector, 2012). With the integration of technology, students get direct, individualized instruction from the computer. This form of supplemental teaching allows them to engage with the information at times that are most convenient for them and helps them become more self-directed in the learning process. It also gives the teacher more time to accomplish classroom objectives, while freeing them up to help the students who might be struggling with certain lessons.
Integrating technology into the classroom instruction means more than just teaching basic computer skills in a computer class. Technology integration must happen throughout the curriculum to enhance the learning process. Throughout my Black History/Civil Rights lesson, I integrated technology by using PowerPoint presentations, pictures, maps, and allowing the students to use laptops for research and for extended learning. The technology that I used to enhance the lessons encouraged active engagement and participation individually as well as in groups. Technology was helpful with the group projects and the students enjoyed the opportunities. Learning through group projects with the use of technology allowed the students to be challenged while providing them with experience.
Many teachers struggle with motivating students to learn. When technology integration in the classroom is seamless and thoughtful, students not only become more engaged, they begin to take more control over their own learning, too. Technology helps change the student and teacher roles and relationships. With the presence of technology in the classroom, students now take responsibility for their learning outcomes, while teachers become their guides and facilitators. Furthermore, for economically disadvantaged students, the school may be the only place where they will have the opportunity to use a computer and integrate technology into their learning.
One way to ensure that this transition can happen is to consider technological integration as a component of all the work we do in schools, including technology use that supports increased student learning. The goal of embedding high levels of technology into instructional practice can be met if all of the educational stakeholders
"Technology has a crucial role to play in our schools. Unfortunately, it has little to do with the integrated learning systems,
