This was due to a civil war called the “Hogen Rebellion” in 1156. This rebellion was due to conflicts regarding Imperial Japanese succession and unexpectedly laid the groundwork for the samurai clans to gain dominance. With both “would-be emperors” losing the Hogen Rebellion, the imperial government of Japan lost all of its remaining power. This led to the Heiji Rebellion in 1160 which was fought between two samurai clans, the Minamoto and Taira. With the victory of the Taira clan, the first samurai-led government (Shogunate) was formed. This type of government was controlled by the samurai clans, and the Emperor of Japan was only used as a figurehead to the government.

Things started to change in China, for example, the government started to aid the poor a lot more than what they have in the past. They were getting this money from the newly introduced income tax. This made a lot of people happy and everyone started to have more patriotism and pride. This pride gave the government a feel of legitimacy. Some of the major things the government is paying for is the roads, food, and education. Pottery at this time helps out the economy in China, because the pottery is so advanced that it was being exported for good money and it also led more people to come to China. Books were very important to China because they could now communicate with people all over the world. Printing more effectively, they could now print books faster with no errors. China had gone through a major reformation that is called “Socialism with Chinese characteristics” that started in late 1978, sparked by a very influential politician and leader, Deng Xiaoping. The reformation is carried out in different stages. It is very important to understand these stages, as each stage is the prerequisite for China to move to another stage. Large-scale of government planning is heavily involved throughout the reformation. Despite having to go through financial crisis couple of times, globally and throughout Asia, China seemed to respond quickly and effectively to handle these difficult situations.
