Majority of movies don’t follow along with the books as an example my class read “The Outsiders” was written by S.E. Hinton and the director for the movie was Francis Ford Coppola. “The Outsiders” was about seven friends that were greasers, three whom were siblings, a greaser is a person who has long greasy hair, live on south side of town, and they ain't rich kids, but one night something happened that changed everything . We ended up seeing the movie but some of the scenes were nothing alike the book. I mean to be totally honest there wasn’t a lot of errors just missing some important parts I wouldn’t say they added some scenes to it. Naturally they were young men acting like greasers, but they really acted really well as a family, that is what I think made the movie like a true family bond. I think how they acted like very close and like caring, it was really good because in the book and the movie they were all very close and they acted like a real family. This writing is about what the differences are in the movie from the book and what important parts I thought they missed and didn't put in the movie what kind of …show more content…
I preferred the book over the movie because I feel that the book introduced us more into the problems between the Socs and Greasers as well as the Greasers individual problems. I watched the PG-13 version of the movie and that one followed a lot of the key points of the book unlike the PG version. I really liked though that scene when dally snapped once Johnny died it showed the other side of Dallas Winston. In all it really did have good characteristic and it did kind of go along the book as well as it could. I do personally did like the PG-13 one much better it did a better explanation of things. In all Francis Ford Coppola did a really good job directing this movie and doing a lot of little things that didn’t need to put in like the gymnast
The Outsiders movie which was released on March 25, 1983, is a American drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola .It is a crime thriller and is adapted from a novel of the same name by S.E. Hinton .The Film was shot on location in Tulsa, Oklahoma and set in 1965 .The story of this movie revolves around the conflict between the two different social groups ,which is the rich and the poor. It is a class versus class conflict which gives rise to a physical conflict between the Greasers and the Socs .I feel there are physical fights throughout the story between the two groups due to enculturation. The native culture that is transmitted from one generation to another among the Greasers is the reason for their limitations.
The book and the movie of the Outsiders are two very different stories. The book has so much more detail then the movie. The movie is not the most detailed but it does get its point across. There are may similarities and also many differences between the two the book is by far more interesting and more detailed then the movie. I enjoyed the book a lot and the movies a lot but the movie was missing a lot.
On April 24, 1967, S.E. Hinton published the book The Outsiders. Then sixteen years later director Francis Ford Coppola’s movie version of The Outsiders was released on March 23, 1983. The book is about a young boy named Ponyboy who lives with his two older brothers because his parents were killed in a automobile accident. Ponyboy goes through a lot of tough times because he is a part of this group known as the Greasers. The Greasers are a group that are known for being from the poor side of town and the Socs are the rich kids on the other side of town. Throughout the entire book the two groups kept fighting and then something terrible happened that changed Ponyboy’s life forever. The movie and book have many differences
A comparison between both mediums for The Outsiders can be made by showing both of their advantages and disadvantages to show that one of them is better than the other.
In english are class read a book called The Outsiders, then we watched the movie and did wrote about what was different, these are a couple of the differences i found out. Darry Ponyboy's brother in the book and movie seems a whole lot meaner to Pony in the book. Early in the book Ponyboy gives descriptions about all of his friends and his two brothers, but in the movie their hairstyles are different. In the book and movie Ponyboy and his two friend Two Bit and Johnny go to a movie and in the book they were in an inside theater but the movie shows they were outside. Ponyboy had also said in the book there was no one there besides them and two other girls but there were a couple others there too. Johnny Ponyboy's friend is shorter than him in the movie but in the book Pony said he was the shortest.
To begin, the first difference I observed between the book and movie is that the movie has a different opening scene than the book. The movie starts out with Ponyboy writing in a composition notebook on a page titled “The Outsiders.” In the book the beginning scene is Pony boy walking
The Outsiders was about the greasers and the Socs. The Socs always jump the greasers, one day Johnny fights back, he ends up killing Bob. Johnny and Ponyboy run away to a church and hide until Dally comes and gets them. They then see the church was burning, Ponyboy and Johnny run into it to save the kids inside. Johnny and Dally get injured, Ponyboy is okay. The greasers win the rumble, the Socs will stay out of the greasers territory, Johnny passes away from his injuries, Dally robs a store, the police shoot him, and he does not survive the shots. In the end Ponyboy decides to regather his life and he starts with writing his theme for his ELA class. The book The Outsiders book, the
The book and the film were both simular, and yet different in many ways. An example would be, in the film, Ponyboy was walking to the drive-in and meeting Cherri and Marcia. Although in the book, Ponyboy began his journey by telling the readers about his experience about being jumped by the Socs and being threatened. The director probably had some options to pick from to leave out from the movie, and the director chosed this to leave out. Leaving out the part where Ponyboy was jumped was an effective move because without the experience Ponyboy was lost and helpless because he did not know what to do when he and Johnny got cornered in the park by Bob and other Socs.
The book is better because it has more events than the movie. Watching “The Outsiders” movie, I was a little disappointed when certain events from the book weren’t in the movie. Ponyboy and Cherry didn’t talk about the sunsets very much in the movie. In the book, they talk about how they admire just sitting and watching the sunsets. Another event that wasn’t in the movie is when Pony and Two-Bit see Johnny’s mother at the hospital. I think that event is really important because it shows a little of what Johnny has gone through at home. However, some may say that the movie is better because it has all of the major events. But, even the less important events are still significant in some way.
In the book “The Outsiders” there is more detail and the plot seems to go at a slower pace than the movie. The greasers are from the west side of town while
The drive-in and Bob’s death. Living in an abandoned church. The fire, hospital and the rumble. All are apart of the book and movie, The Outsiders. In it, a group of Greaser boys have a close bond. An unexpected night occurs and Johnny murders a Soc. Johnny and Pony run away and soon, along with Dally, they save children from a fire. Johnny’s doesn’t look good and he dies. Dally gets into some trouble and gets shot. There are many similarities and differences between the movie and book version of The Outsiders because of events in the movie, book, and both.
A quote that Pony said states, “Someone should tell their side of the story, and maybe people would understand then and wouldn't be so quick to judge a boy by the amount of hair oil he wore.”(Hinton) (Coppola) This quote is both said in the movie and book, but only readers understand what this really means. I think the book is better than the movie because the book gives better details and descriptions, in the book you can understand and almost “feel” emotion, and you get to see characters growth throughout the story. Although the book and movie have many similarities, the book gives the reader something more meaningful than watching the
The book, and the movie, “the Outsiders” is about a conflict between greasers and socs. Up until the point where Johnny kills a soc, there are mostly only small fights and arguments between the two. The story “the Outsiders” takes place in the 1960’s, when there were two main lifestyles. Greasers and Socs. Greasers are known for greasing their hair. Socs are rich kids who have good clothes, drive mustangs, and always have an argument against the greasers. The main character in S. E. Hinton’s book “the Outsiders” is Ponyboy Curtis. He has two older brothers Darry and Soda. Pony is 14 years old and his best friend, Johnny, is 16 years old. S. E. Hinton wrote “the Outsiders” when she was 17 years old. Her book was published in 1967. The
In S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders, there are two rival gangs. One group, the Socials, reap the benefits of wealthy living and a good reputation. The other bunch, the Greasers, are looked down upon as bad, unruly, and unlawful. Even though the Greasers and Socials live on opposite sides of town, they have a variety of likenesses and differences.
The Outsiders is a book that has been read by many people. Most of the people have enjoyed the book, but not the movie or vise versa. The Outsiders was very good and had a great story behind it. The reasons why the book is better than the movie are the book gives more detail, people can let their imagination go wild, and the movie leaves out key elements that the book has.
