There are few things that are extremely important in life, and I am positive they vary from person to person. Mine form a triangle including family and friends, education, and a hard work ethic. Without one or the other, they all fail. Without a work ethic, I would never have the motivation to get an education, or even attempt to prosper in life. Having a strong work ethic is a characteristic that everyone should have in order to be successful. My work ethic was driven by my parents at a young age and this helps me to gain respect for bosses, professors, and coworkers. It also gave me dedication through hard work, during my high school volleyball season. Lastly, my hard work ethic gives me inspiration for my current education and future …show more content…
My first jobs I ever had included working mutually for both my parents. They were always very tough on me and expected the very best outcome from me. I assumed this was just because I was their daughter. But a year later, when I received a job as a waitress at a local restaurant/ ice cream shop, I realized that my parents had treated me like any other employee. I was never expecting a boss, that was not my mother nor father, to yell at me or be strict and disciplined. There were several times when my boss at the restaurant had shouted at me for serving too much ice cream on a cone. I will always remember the feeling of disappointment I received when my boss was unhappy with my service. I soon learned that all the complaining my parents did about their employees were actual issues, and that I did not want to be like the employees they criticized. This was my first realization at how important a strong work ethic is.
The next component that displayed how important my work ethic is, includes my senior year high school volleyball season. Volleyball was a sport I played from 5th grade all the way up through my senior year. Volleyball pre-season typically starts in June and ends in August when tryouts start. I had already been through tryouts my freshman, sophomore, and junior year, so I went into my senior year tryout not worried at all. After three days of
Perseverance. I believe that a strong core value for not only for me but also for my family is perseverance. I first experienced perseverance when I was in first grade. I come from a hispanic family meaning that spanish is our primary language. Neither of my parents knew any english and in first grade I started to get homework, which was entirely in english. I personally was not good at english either, so both my parents and I did not know how to speak the language. Consequently, I was not doing well in school as I would not get my work done and I would have a hard time understanding. When my dad saw that I was struggling he decided to learn english so that he could help me.
Education is important to me, because education opens doors for people to be able to get further in life. Education lets people have to opportunity to learn things they actually have interest in or have a passion to do. It leads to better advances one could make at their own extent
School is my main priority because it means so much to me. Everyone should value there education and get all the knowledge while they can. Education is the most important part in your schooling because it leads to your success. Education holds the key to a successful future. Education can also help an individual to reach his/her life goals and dreams. The more education I receive the more choices and opportunities I will have. With an education, I have more options, which often lead to greater success and happiness in life. By going to college, I can choose what I want to do in life. A student will also be able to choose a career that interests them and that will enable them to achieve there dreams.
Baseball in high school taught me how to have a work ethic. Having grown up in a small working class Wisconsin town, having a work ethic is something that was instilled in you at a young age. I began implementing my hard work ethic both in baseball and in my academics right away. I spent countless hours before and after school in the gym, classroom or on the field. From this, I found success both in academics and in baseball. During my time in high school and having had success both in the classroom and on the field I had the opportunity to go to a top Liberal Arts College, St. Olaf. I believe that my work ethic was the reasoning I was able to pursue and obtain a great education and play collegiate baseball. To this day, I take pride in myself for having a strong work ethic.
Thanks to my parents pushing me to do my best, I have an outstanding work ethic in school and on the field. Because of this effort and work put in, I have been a captain on basketball, football, and baseball teams. Not only were my parents important factors but, so were my coaches and teachers. Coaches and teachers have pushed me to do the best I could and told me when I did things wrong, but praised me when I did them right. They helped to slowly build my character, leadership, scholarship and dedication to everything and anything that I do so that when I had to do something it was done the right way instead of halfway.
Along with NHS, being actively involved in varsity sports throughout high school has made me gain a “work hard” attitude. This attitude of constantly working above and beyond will carry over to my future education and career to help me succeed. As a two-year captain of both volleyball and cheerleading, I have learned to be a team leader while also being a team player. High school sports have instilled lifelong lessons in me such as working hard, being responsible, and being a leader, that I know will aid me in by success in academics and a
Education. I believe it to be one of the greatest gifts this world could give us. My mother always told me that knowledge is power and that I could never learn enough. She taught me to love being the best I could be and to always want to know more, to question everything. There have been countless times that life has tried to take away my mom’s faith and strength, but she always felt the need to keep herself educated. When she needed to get somewhere, she walked. She had to. This improved her sense of direction and helped her in receiving a job as a postal carrier. From there, she became a federal police officer for the U.S. Postal Service. Working her way up, she was able to become a successful manager at a postal plant. But to get
Education, family, and friends have always been my number one, but there's more of a story to tell. My family contains four members, my father John, my mother Dana, and my sister Hailey. My dad works for the military, Air force. He does a big favor to our country and I am proud to be his daughter. My mom Dana, is a CNA at Heritage nursing home. She wants to start her own photography business. My
I began working at the age of eight years old at the restaurant. For me it was exciting, I wasn’t doing anything that I did not do at home, but I was making money. For an eight year old it was like allowance but it was much more than any of my friends. My dad admired the fact that I always worked extra hard, but little did he know that I saw what happened to my older sibling who were trying to live a normal teenage life, and being shunned for not wanting to give their all to his dream. I was eight years old, I really did not have a choice. By the time I was ten years old, the restaurant had been going pretty well, so dad decided to open a candy store next door to the restaurant for guess who to manage, yes me. I was his pride and joy and he knew that with my hard work that I would be a success. Of course at ten years old, I was completely excited for the opportunity. Little did I know that the people that I would be managing would be my older siblings who were not to excited about having to answer to a ten year old.
I grew up as a farmer's daughter, therefore I worked on the farm, even when the tasks were tough. Because of this, I learned at a young age a lesson that will stay with me until the day I die, when you start something, you finish it. No matter how difficult the task is, no matter how long it takes, you will fight through it and get the job done no matter what. Though multiple hot and sweaty hours, I built myself a well-rounded work ethic. I have learned to conquer anything that is thrown my way. Whether that was driving a tractor for endless hours or getting a A on my test, I have learned that I have to work for everything and anything in my life. However much work I put into something is exactly the outcome in which I
My values are very important to me, and family and friends are very important. Without them, we would not
When I was a young child, my parents were both hard working individuals. My mother worked in the custodial department at a center for the developmentally disabled and my father was a self-employed handyman. I frequently spent time with both parents while they were at their jobs and from an early age I had a good understanding of what they did for work. My mother’s work looked hard and dirty, and I hated cleaning as a kid so I knew that line of work probably wasn’t going to be a life dream for me. The one thing I enjoyed about going to my mom’s work was getting to interact with the clients. The interactions with the clients allowed me to learn about disabilities and from a young age, taught me that everyone is different. In regards to my dad’s line of work, I loved going to jobs with him and working on projects in the garage. For that reason, I think that is why I complete tasks with great precision and have creative attributes.
As I entered my teen years, my father expected more out of me than just being a good student. Dad always seemed to have projects going on around the house, and I became his helper. It did not matter what the project was, he always seemed to need my help and I was not happy about that. I had better things to do than wasting a weekend working around the house. Somehow my dad knew how to do everything and felt it was his job to teach all of it to me. I was a teenager and had all of the knowledge I would ever need, so I thought. As it turned out, most of the skills I obtained helping my father led me to a rather lucrative career in manufacturing a few years later.
In my life, there are things I value very highly. At the top of this list is family. You can have anything in this world, but without family, it is not worth it. Family are the people who love you, motivate you, comfort
Work can cause many issues with oneself and society. There can be a inner struggle in someone if they don’t like their job. Society can cause the discussion of jobs to become a controversial topic. In the poems “Lady In The Pink Mustang” by Louise Erdrich, “The Restaurant Business” by James Tate, and “So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs From Americans” by Jimmy Santiago Baca, the authors use divisions and conflicts to make readers see a bigger picture.
